His expansion of Medicaid (essentially doing what Obamacare was secretly intended to do) is not quite the 'independence from public assistance' I had in mind.
His expansion was also part of his oddball mindset. His explanation of that is that the Fed was taking all this money from Ohio and he wanted to get it back in some form or other. He was able to find a way to get Ohio tax revenue back through the Medicaid route.
Now, like it or not, and I don’t, his point is correct. He has recaptured Ohio money to be spent in Ohio.
Medicaid was not likely to have it’s rules changed the last 2 years...and they didn’t change. He’s right about that, too. I don’t know if he’s a lawyer or an accountant, but if he’s a lawyer, then he’s pretty sharp about accounting.
His problem with conservatism is that he’s squishy on social issues.
