New York Times: Obama 'Misspoke' About Keeping Healthcare Plans
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

MISSPEAK 1: to speak (as a word) incorrectly 2: to express oneself imperfectly or incorrectly [e.g., claims now that he misspoke himself]

In an editorial of today, the New York Times couldn't bring itself to say the simple truth: that President Obama lied when he repeatedly assured Americans that, under Obamacare, if they liked their healthcare insurance policies they would be able to keep them. The most the Times was able to admit was that [emphasis added throughout] "Mr. Obama clearly misspoke when he said that." Misspoke. Yes, of course. As you see from the Merriam Webster definition above, the word does not imply any intent to deceive. Indeed, as in the example Merriam Webster offers, to misspeak implies a lack of intent.

The editorial gets worse, as you'll see after the jump.

It reminds me of that delightful turn of phrase the Clinton administration made so popular: “mistakes were made”. Never “I made a mistake”, just that vague subject-less mantra.

That "vague, subject-less mantra" is technically known as "passive voice."

My high school English teacher strictly limited its use in our writings for his class assignments, and made it his policy to flunk any paper in which it appeared more than three times.

A calculated lie, one that a lame duck president considered necessary to get socialized health-care passed.

With a calculated response when uncovered, repeated ad nausea, it's the evil insurance companies fault with their cheap, lousy plans.

If you misspeak under oath, you can go to jail.

Well then.. if The Brilliant One “misspeaks” 30+ times on the same subject, maybe the author can explain to us just how “brilliant” The Brilliant One really is.

The best one I’ve heard yet is the Florida Democrat Party not admitting to lying but they did admit to “purposeful misstatements”.

It is an impossibility for theOne to have misspoken on this very topic.
His new program (ostensibly) sprang from his own imagination. It was therefor an implicit pledge that his prediction was a promise. When one sets out to create, it is a given that the results that one promises are achievable and intended. That it turns out now to have been an untruth is evidence that it was intended all along to have been a misleading, outright lie.

Your post implies that “the media” is a distinct organization and apart. It is not.

The media is the Goebbles envisioned propaganda arm of the leftist organization known as the Democrat Party. The media is but a construct of the party.

The media implements that which is developed in article #2 of Goebbels’ Principles of Propaganda

2. Propaganda must be planned and executed by only one authority.
a. It must issue all the propaganda directives.

b. It must explain propaganda directives to important officials and maintain their morale.

c. It must oversee other agencies’ activities which have propaganda consequences

The foremost enemy of the American Republic is the Democrat Party

Passive voice is always flagged for rephrasing by knowledgeable editors, and even word processing programs.

The lies are not even consistent, thus obvious to those that listen that they are, indeed, lies.

Take the lie about $2500 off family insurance plans. He lied it dozens of times. Sometimes, it was $2500 exactly. Sometimes it was “as much as $2500”. Sometimes it was “typically $2500”, meaning an average.

Mathematically, a value cannot be less than X, X, and an average of x at the same time, without being a Lie.

Not really. The media is saying he’s “evolving” there is no lie from the King. BTW - do we always have to have a picture displayed of him. It’s really starting to gross me out seeing him.

Unfortunately management at most companies prefer it be used by their underlings..
