Busted. Stone-cold busted. Just as I suspected, "progressive" pranksters at Oberlin College have been definitively unmasked as the perpetrators of phony campus "hate crimes" that scored international headlines in March. The blabbermouth academic administrators who helped fuel the hysteria are now running for cover.
The Associated Press, The New York Times, MSNBC, Yahoo News and the Huffington Post were among the media outlets that trumpeted the story of supposed racism, homophobia and anti-Semitism run amok at my alma mater. Throughout the winter, anti-black and anti-gay graffiti, swastikas, and a shadowy figure in a "KKK hood" surfaced on the tiny campus outside Cleveland, Ohio. Black Entertainment Television News decried the hate outbreaks and "KKK sighting."
Because of my firsthand knowledge of Oberlin's long history of self-manufactured hate-crime incidents, the fake-hate-crime alarm bells went off immediately for me when I read the reports. Back in the 1990s, race-obsessed nutballs at Oberlin College cooked up a horrid hate-crime hoax. Asian-American students claimed that a phantom racist had spray-painted anti-Asian racial epithets on a campus landmark rock. It turned out that it was a warped Asian-American student who perpetrated the dirty deed.
Student newspapers were filled with complaints about imaginary racism. One Asian-American student accused a library worker of racism after the poor staffer asked the grievance-mongering student to lower the blinds where she was studying. A black student accused an ice-cream shop owner of racism after he told the student she was not allowed to sit at an outside table because she hadn't purchased any items from his store.
My suspicions about the latest "hate" crime were bolstered by police statements that the "KKK hood"-wearing menace was actually a female student wrapped in a blanket. Hollywood darling and Oberlin alumnus Lena Dunham was undaunted, however, in ginning up emotional calls for Obie solidarity...

The year ain’t over yet, Michelle. Just sayin’.
If hate crimes are to be treated as federal crimes, then making up hate crimes ought to be treated in the same manner and given the same sentences as hate crimes.

Thanks!
Average looking girl, with too many pounds, and too much ink, to be attractive.
You’ll need LOTS of words to do what this link can do...
Huh?
By asking a question?
No; not the country; men's SOULS!
You are correct.
Now...
...what do we do about it?
Those who would make slaves of us all.
“If hate crimes are to be treated as federal crimes, then making up hate crimes ought to be treated in the same manner and given the same sentences as hate crimes.”
That’s truth medicine that would be the cure.
When she went to Fox and became a national figure, she left FR. This site has changed a lot over the past 15 years, and further involvement would have damaged her reputation.
Well I don’t know if that’s still the case.
The GOP is in transit.
If Michelle wants to be part of the new thing which takes its place (yes I’m making a ton of assumptions, and many may not agree with me at the moment) it would be intelligent for her to remain plugged in to what I see as the single most vibrant conservative voice anywhere.
Besides, I would love to read her stuff.
I know I could go to her blog, but the problem is I spend all my time here.
:D
Well said.
Attitude and morality also tie into attractiveness.
This thing stunk like Jane Fonda's skivvies from the get-go.
This isn't the early 1960s, EVERYBODY has cell phone/cameras now. If there had been somebody dressed in Klan garb any where near Oberlin, there would have been cell phone pictures of it all over the internet, but of course, there were not. Not one.
The left wing is quite willing to use some pretty extreme measures to keep the mindless red-diaper babies in the student body afraid of anything not liberal.
Oberlin students are not intellectually capable of questioning left-wing dogma. I'm sure this hoax had them all huddling in their dorms in fear of being ridden down by night riders.
Good points...In my view the thing that stinks the most is the administration keeping quiet when they knew it to be a hoax.
This reminds me of the female professor at Claremont College in So CA some years back that vandalized her own car after giving a hate crime lecture.
Someone witnessed it and she was fired and prosecuted for filing a false police report, at least that liberal college didn’t go along with the fraud.
“Consciousness raising” is the deliberate perpetration of a lie by people who prefer hatred and imaginary moral superiority to honesty. There’s a lot of it out there.
While it does have some legitimate credentials, you are basically on the mark. I, too, attended Oberlin for four years to obtain my A.B., and it was there that I developed the virtual total contempt for Leftwing thinking, which I display at Free Republic. It really does train one to recognize the totally shallow, airborne quality, of what passes for analysis on the Left.
But, again, all are not a party to the silliness that Michelle so correctly identifies--and so well dissects.
Incidentally, I was up there to speak to the small Conservative element in April, and am well aware of just how stupidly the College Administration behaved over the "incident." I will avoid details, so as not to cheapen my degree; but it was really an embarrassment. (Hysteria over make-believe threats compounded with frothy ideology does not add up to anything rational!)

Of course. That’s sorta my point, if she was a tea party activist and not some dumb commie actress no one here would be calling her jabba the slut. ;)
