America's coming civil war -- makers vs. takers
Fox News ^ | Published July 12, 2012 | Arthur Herman

“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Abe Lincoln used those words in 1858 to describe a country that was careening toward civil war. Now we’re a house divided again and another civil war is coming, with the 2012 election as its Gettysburg.

Call it America’s coming civil war between the Makers and the Takers.

On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.

On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).

Over the past century America’s private sector has been the source of productivity, innovation, creativity, and growth–and gave us the iPhone and iPad. The public sector has been the engine of entitlement, stagnation, and decline -- and gave us Detroit and the South Bronx.

The private sector built the strongest economy in the world. It armed the free world in World War Two, and then in the three decades after the war turned America into the most prosperous society history had ever seen. It revived America in the Reagan and Clinton years, and thanks to the Bush tax cuts brought this country back from economic collapse after 9/11.

In those same years a growing public sector, by contrast, turned Europe into a cesspool of debt, stalled economies, and chronic social dysfunction that’s set the streets of Athens -- and perhaps other European capitals--on fire.

That’s where we’re headed, too, more rapidly than we like to think.

‘takers’ = moochers and looters (those with political connections, like Uncle Warren Buffet)

A prediction I made on another FP article after the election last night:

Texas will float a trial balloon dealing with succession from the US and will find a significant number of states in agreement with them. This will result in either a new political block that neither DC republicans nor democrats know how to deal with or start in motion the actual succession of states from the US. Maker states, like farming country et al, tired of supporting taker states like Ca, NY, NJ, Mass, Il. If succession becomes a viable option Eastern Washington, Eastern Ca., SW Illinois and Northern Fla will try to break away from the taker socialist parts of their states.

I’ve said this for the longest time...

whenever anyone says the next civil war will be the haves versus the have nots i tell them BS- its going to be those that do (take responsibility for themselves) versus those who won’t (take responsibility for themselves)...

There is a possibility that basically white and middle class areas in the US will eventually try to secede. If so there will be blood and the sort of actions seen in Syria is not impossible here. One thing is that the unworthy Americans that voted for the Kenyan Santa Claus and the liberal leaders are basically cowards. Bullies perhaps but mostly cowardly bullies. The big question is , as now in Syria how much of the armed forces will be loyal to the government. If there is significant amounts of the armed forces in seceded areas (think Fort Hood) that side with the secessionists then there will be a lot of dead people before it ends.

A Crypto-Communist twice-elected to highest office: That’s the way the country crumbles.

several years ago on the political forum at a football site, a smug yet usual ignorant left winger laughed at the thought of succession, stating that the red states would never survive without the blue states....

i reminded him that the bread basket, oil reserves, etc are found in the red states and told him you can move Wall Street from NY to downtown Dallas but the bread basket ain’t going anywhere....he quickly shut his mouth...

" They are on notice."

What are we gonna do? VOTE them out? That worked real well yesterday.

The Kenyan must go.

Exactly. All one has to do is look at the various EV maps. Plus many of the farming states now have oil, gas and coal, i.e. ND, WY. The union hosses and bosses in NJ would be left trying to unionize dumpster diving in NJ, NYC because that would be their only source of income and food.

Also, as you mentioned, many former NYC/Wall Street companies already moved to DFW in the ‘80s and ‘90’s. So those willng to leave NYC or Chi-town would find it easy to do.
