This isn’t a total loss, in fact it is a win. Obama and the Dems swore this wasn’t a tax, yet it only survived by SCOTUS deeming it a tax. Taxes are bad politically and Obama will be even less popular. This guarantees an Obama electoral defeat. And the fact it is deemed a tax, said tax can be repealed by the legislative branch just as it was imposed by them. SCOTUS merely kicked this back to the legislative branch like the cowards they are (5 of them). Pyrrhic victory for Obama
No. Time to stand and fight for your country!
I just raised the Gadsden outside on my flagpole. Was considering flying old glory upside down, but cannot bear to see it (even though it might be appropriate).
If that's the case, hubby and I MUST get the hell out of The People's Socialist Republik of Connecticut before 2014!
What a disgusting ruling, particularly by that coward Roberts.
Can't wait to hear Rush's take on this today...
Hadn’t got the vote detail before the post. I guess that with Wickard and whatever as accepted, Congress has authority to do anything now.
I am afraid we are going to see a second American revolution down the road.
Nothing, the guy just isn’t a Conservative. Nice legacy for GWB.
Okay, here’s my take on what needs to happen now.
THIS NEEDS TO BE REPEALED NO MATTER WHAT.
No matter what, folks. Which means there is no excuse whatsoever to not vote for Romney in four months. None. I supported Santorum, but that doesn’t matter now — only repealing this monstrosity does. To all the bigots — yes, I said bigots — who keep harping on how Mormons aren’t Christians, either decide that repealing Obamacare is more important or kindly shut the **** up. Maybe he isn’t your preferred brand of Christian, but then again I’m probably not either. I was baptized Greek Orthodox and raised Catholic, so what does that make me? It sure doesn’t make me Mormon, and it probably doesn’t make me the same as the people who keep harping on Mormonism. We have a lot of conservative Jewish FReepers, too — I can only imagine if Eric Cantor was our nominee — would the same people knocking Romney because of his Mormonism be threatening to stay home then as well?
Long screed short, if you’re contributing to the circular firing squad, check your harping, grousing, and bigotry at the door and KNOCK IT OFF. There is one and only one priority now to save the Republic, and that’s to throw out Obama and every Rat senator who *will* filibuster when we try to repeal it next year. Period. Stop being part of the ****ing problem and start being part of the solution.
Repeal or Revolt.
Today I mourn the death of Chief Justice Rehnquist.
Roberts has succumbed to Obama’s intimidation tactics. Coward.
Lets remember all the Dems on TV saying “It’s not a tax”.
Seems to me CONGRESS now has to rewrite it since this was sold under false pretenses.
Either way, NO ONE wants the tax increase. It looks bad, and it is, but there still may be a silver lining here. Before this ‘tax’ gets implemented, there’s an election and NO ‘congresspersons’ will campaign on “I’m gonna tax you $2000”.
That is not true, as the USA declines other countries while nominally socialist still practice personal responsibility. You want to smoke go ahead, eat what you want drink what you want but you will pay the price. Our country is a racist nation moving socialist to support minorities giving them the tranny of the minority. The free riders rule this country now.
Lyle:
The rejection of the Commerce Clause and Nec. and Proper Clause should be understood as a major blow to Congress’s authority to pass social welfare laws. Using the tax code — especially in the current political environment — to promote social welfare is going to be a very chancy proposition.

We will see how this plays out politically. Getting a SCOTUS stamp of approval could make the law more acceptable among voters.
It is called a monarchy or tryanny.
Which is the next phase. We are in the end days of democracy.
One problem with Boenher’s statement. He mentions only how damaging ObamaCare is economically. He does *not* make any mention of the fundamental issue: it is unconstitutional! None of those worthless congresscritters look at issues through the prism of constitutionality.

Repeal The 'Tax'!
>>Romney has ONE chance to get this right. He needs to say, today, that he will repeal this monstrosity immediately — in full and without exception. Give the Congressional candidates something to run on. <<
I want to know the brand name of whatever it is that you put in your coffee. Is it legal in Nevada? Romney is 3/4 Democrat, he is not going to repeal anything.
Doubt that will work. The bill survived under the taxation powers but it will actually be enforced as a fine.
Roberts really screwed us with this one. If he really feels this way, he should have struck down the mandate as it is and stated that the law needed to be rewritten as a tax.
