Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum continues to ride his polling momentum into Ohio where he leads Mitt Romney by nearly two-to-one in the first Rasmussen Reports survey of Republicans in the state.
The new statewide telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary voters shows Santorum picking up 42% of the vote to Romneys 24%. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich draws 13% support, while Texas Congressman Ron Paul picks up 10%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided.

My mother died in 2003 and voted in 2004 and 2006 and after three trips to the court house and her local precinct, and much bitching and writing to my congress critter, her name was finally removed.
I may have to check again this year, she may have pulled a Newt, and is alive again.
The best part is the 8% undecided wont cover the difference between Romney and Santorum even including the margin of errors.
So you honestly believe Rick Santorum can beat Obama...? I just don’t see him having any popular support in the general election. Obama will coast to victory. I wish I was as optimistic as some on this site. :-|
“In a potential Election 2012 matchup, the president posts a 47% to 43% lead over former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. If former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum is the Republican nominee, the president leads 47% to 41%.”
There is more than ample reason for people to be fed up with Pres. Obama and yet these are the numbers. It’s very disheartening.
If true, then our “Saint Rick” could yet be a factor in the race. I am surprised at the opposition to him on this forum. I have wondered if he is not benefiting from organized Italian American political efforts but have seen nothing on that.
Well, on one hand, it’s easy to be disheartened. On the other, there’s something that tells me not to lie down and take it — FIGHT IT.
Time for ALL conservatives to rally, at some point, around ONE man. Then EVERYONE, and I mean everyone get out and work for this person — campaign, drive out the vote!
This is what dems do — they fight, tough and scrabble — they drag out everyone living and not living ...they do this, and we don’t do it.
Time to get in there and FIGHT FOR IT, and work for it — I believe it CAN be done, but the candidates can’t do it alone, not with the relentless attacks from the media. There has to be a populist backlash against all of it.
Newt or Rick can easily beat Obama as long as they don’t get off message — jobs, economy, debt, foreign policy, government intervention, government waste, broken promises, obscructionist Senate, Constitution trampling, rinse and repeat.
These are things that energize conservatives and a large number of independents.
Stay far, far away from any and all social issues. It is the only thing that ever energizes the Democrat base and turns many independents away.
There is a reason Obama is declaring war on the Catholic Church. He is trying to change the debate to motivate his base. Ever since the debate changed he began rising in the polls. If the Republicans can just stay on msg they can win.
As soon as they stray, they hand the election to the Marxist in Chief.
I really miss George Bush, warts and all.
Guess where I live, and guess who I’m gonna vote for. :)
Just talking to a lock repairman at our house this morning and he said the exact same thing as you did, Charles.
Leadership, Integrity, Morality, Grace, Patriotism, Class, Humor.....
I miss all those things.
Romney never had a high level of support. All along, his only hope was to split the conservative vote so that he would get a plurality.
Romney is obviously Obamas Plan “B”...
Rick must be Obamas Plan “C”...
Anything to keep Newt from becoming President..
Looks like the Democrat Party is surely Sodom...
Because it is looking like the republican party is Gomorrah..
America is quite Doped UP and is salivating over Porn in a hundred venues..
Some even think WEED is not DOPE.... and HOMOS do not perform Sodomy..
So, if a debate moderator or reporter asks Santorum: "do you favor gay marriage and abortion?"; should he say "yes", or "no comment", or what?
Add to that, his effort to initiate TARP and the Bailouts of the MEGA Banks, was a fatal error that wound up forcing Obama into office. For that, I can no longer view him as even a moderately fair President.
Love your tagline! I’ll pray that right now! :)
I am excited to see that Santorum seems to be kicking Romney’s a$$, but I don’t believe that either Santorum or Romney can win against Obama.
I support Newt and I believe that if he were to win the presidency, he would be our best bet for turning our country around, however, I am no longer convinced that this country cares about it’s survival.....
I know that I am being pessimistic, but I find myself wondering less about what next November will look like, instead, I wonder what she will look like 4 years later.
But...but...I didn’t think that Santorum had a ground game past Iowa. /s
Go Rick!
A long primary is a good thing if solely for the publicity, exposure and building up name recognition. Obama was a household name by the time the primary was over. I can guarantee you if the name Barack Obama showed up on the ballot with little warning no one would have voted for him. As long as the media coverage isn’t devastatingly negative, it’s a plus to keep the candidates’ names in the news.
