“He will make no major changes in the direction of our governance...”
This is an assumption on your part. I have personally heard Gingrich speak and he is well aware of our coming financial disaster. I don’t know why anyone would want to be President during this terrible time. But, I do think Newt is the only one who can cut spending fast enough to save this country.

Well, my first choice gal didn’t make it either. Don’t know if I’ll ever find another. I don’t like it, but I guess things happen that way.

I saved the TV Guide insert of Newt Gingrich’s “CONTRACT WITH AMERICA”.
I must get it out of my Cedar Chest one day soon to look at it. Might be time to put it in a frame to hang it on a wall.

indianrightwinger: “But, I understand that you folks want a progressive to run against Obama.”
Why would you impugn the ideology of Newt's FReeper fans? They clearly think he's conservative. I have my doubts, but do you seriously believe they're backing him because they secretly want a progressive candidate? That's nonsense!

indianrightwinger: “Unfortunately, it fizzled. And, fizzled due to poor leadership.”
I believe that’s an entirely accurate assessment. That begs the question, who was responsible? Newt Gingrich.

I am sorry. I could choose words better.
There are two reasons to choose Newt:
1) He is a better debater (whether that matters or not seems irrelevant these days)
2) He is a progressive conservative
It can’t possibly be that he is a good standard bearer and a strong advocate for conservative principles.
So, I get (am getting) agitated. Especially when FReepers pass him off as our next messiah.

I see a “Magnificent B@st@rd” mindmeld going on here. Just wait until Newt doesn’t close the border. They will make excuses for him until they catch on, and then they’ll cry.
They wouldn’t listen about Michael Steele either.

“They” never will. “We” need to do that. Before we do, we’ll need to get the Marxists out of our system.

you post: “But if you notice, I never favored cap-and-trade. I in fact, I actively testified against it. I was at the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee the same day Al Gore was there to testify for it. I testified against it....”
Boy, did he ever. this is a classic. It will make you smile -

Perhaps you can tell me why Michele Bachmann’s characterization of Newt as a “frugal socialist” is in error.

None of us has a crystal ball. Is it logical to place importance on one's past stated beliefs, pronouncements, and votes as indicative of one's future actions? Have you watched the video? How do you answer his past? I am truly interested.
