Welfare hasn’t gone away. The welfare queens are still getting the welfare check. Now it is called “Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.” In addition to welfare, there is no such thing as “food stamps” anymore.

“Food stamps” are now a debit card - the EBT card. In Michigan, something like 35 percent of black people were on the EBT card in 2009, and that was before EBT card usage more than doubled under Obama over the past two years.

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/11/28/us/20091128-foodstamps.html

Housing projects are being torn down and Section 8 families are getting rent assistance from the government to live in suburbs. That is why crime exploded in Memphis.

These “low-income families” now get housing assistance to live in the suburbs, the EBT card to buy their groceries, TANF welfare, free government cell phones, “energy assistance” and all kinds of other government programs.

The so-called “Republican Revolution” under Newt also passed “immigration reform” in 1996. Are there more or less illegal aliens in America in 2011 than there were in 1996? There are far more illegals here.

Just like there are far more people living off welfare in all its forms today than there were in the 1990s.

Oh please. Welfare is as big as ever.

And how does that relate to what it would be without the 90’s cuts? At best, you’ve given a partial score. Welfare may be as big as ever but could easily be twice again as big without the cutbacks. Or had we not taken Congress away from the Dems for the time we did in the 90’s. And I don’t mean the binge spending of the GOP as personified by Boehner (leader of the coup against Gingrich) under the compassionate conservatives.

“Ryan plan has a mandate? What the **** are you talking about? Now, you are trashing Ryan because you drank Newt’s koolaid?”

Yes, the Ryan plan had a mandate. If you don’t know that, shut up and go read. R-e-a-d-i-n-g is something adults do to find out information.

Both Goldwater and Reagan were married twice.

Does that mean Perry, Bachmann, Romney and Santorum were better than either, or both, of them?

Could not both Reagan and Goldwater be trusted above their sanctimonious critics?

Is that now the new GOP qualification for office?

Yeah, Newt is flawed. So is everybody else. But he is the BEST CONSERVATIVE IN THE RACE.

He could, just maybe, turn out to be as good as he thinks he is.

If he reaches his full potential, he could join our other modern icons mentioned above.

I new a good woman on Welfare in 1995 and she had two children. The program found her a job that paid more money than welfare and had a child care provision built in while she was working. She was very proud to tell me she was an administrative assistant at a local law firm. It worked. Those programs are gone now.

I am well read. Thank you. I don’t need your liberal Newt spin to get me into a tizzy. Ryan’s plan requires all “seniors” to get private insurance supported by a “premium support” system. That is a mandate if you think the alternative is to stop funding Medicare pay-for-service model for those same seniors.

Spin for Newt. But, don’t lie!

“One of the many issues I mentioned. Keep going...!”

Sure:

“Newt voted to create the Department of Education.” The Dept. of Ed was created by Carter. Newt voted yes on its original form as a limited research agency. It later grew out of control.

“Newt railed against Ryan plan.” — see above. He objected to Ryan’s mandate, but agreed with everything else.

“Newt supports Cap&Trade.” — no he testified against it in hearings and does not support it now.

“Newt supports GSEs”. You mean like Perry did in Texas?

“Newt is in favor of payroll tax cut” — Newt is against tax increases. “Gingrich, in an interview with Bloomberg Television in September, also backed the extension. “I am against tax increases in the middle of a depression,” Gingrich said.”

“Newt supports “core” of Obamacare.” — he has vowed to overturn Obamacare and never supported mandate legislation. He defeated HillaryCare as Speaker.

Newt, while conservative on some things can easily be impeached on others.

But the New York Times thinks he's conservative, that should be enough for anyone...

Jim, of course no Conservative can support Romney. My point is that Gingrich, who I would rather see than Romney, has big government stances on a range of issues. He will make no major changes in the direction of our governance, and hence, we are headed for financial ruin. I would just hope that we learn all that we can about our candidate so that we know full well whom we are putting in office. There is no point in deluding ourselves into thinking a candidate holds stances that he does not in fact hold. I am not interested in cheerleading; our situation is dire, and we need to see truthfully what confronts us, and who is best suited to our coming catastrophe. This video summarizes his career, and why not see what he has done and stood for, in case we may have forgotten some episodes, or for those too young to have lived through them. Knowledge is power.

Hastert was a Bush stooge. No kidding. That is no reason to resurrect Newt - into an even more significant role.

You just keep ridin’ that Perry train.....

The equation is “The most Conservative Electable candidate”.

Think about the limitations on the President’s power (Constitutionally, at least) and then think about who will most quickly and effectively undo the damage done by Obama.
If that’s ALL that gets done in the next 4 years, it will be an amazing feat!

Yeah right. Welfare certainly solved a lot didn’t it? It opened the door to illegal immigrants to receive lots.
