If you are affected by the storm approaching, please tell us what you have done to prepare for it.
And keep us updated as it comes your way.
You got that right. You would think it’s armageddon the way he’s talking.
Well, it may be for the Starbucks libtarbs. What will they do when the subways are down for two days?
I evacuated and moved to Florida, no winds here.
I have a water purifier and one of the ones which is supposed to filter even small bacteria but I have never been in a position to where I needed it.
Our creek water is clear but of course I would never trust it to drink without being treated. What I was prepared to do was filter it in one of the inexpensive filters which only filters out solids then boil it for 5 minutes. I think they say 10 but I can’t imagine anything going through both the filter and 5 minutes of boiling.
The last hurricane, I didn’t need any of my preparations. We simply had enough potable water saved.
If worse got to worse we could always drive over to my Grandfathers old house. It is abandoned but kept up. He had a pitcher pump. You have to prime it but it will produce all the clean water you want. You just have to pump.
Good prep...the storm should be bearable by the time it hits y’all.
I kind of know that area. Drove through there on I-95 on a business trip to Providence last week.
Pinochle or Yuker?
Yer in good shape then! Hope the trees survive.
Yes the loss of those old oaks was hard to take. I was no longer living at home but they didn’t go to waste. Daddy cut them all up for fire wood.
He had a fireplace insert and I think those old oaks provided stove wood for a couple of years.
(Am I missing something?)
Wash and dry all your clothes that need it. It might be a couple of weeks before you get to again.
Chance favors a prepared mind!
My favorite race of the year is on this weekend, the F1 race at Spa.
There BETTER be power (dahmit). I’m hoping if it hits, it will be after my DVR picks it up.
I have a house in CT — don’t live there but I know it’s been getting rained on for 125 years at least. And I’ve never done anything about it so why now?
Made sure my Generator would start, pulled up my boat, put away the trash cans and lawn chairs.
No I didn’t buy Toilet Paper, I keep it on hand all the time.
Go on YouTube and find “Irene, Goodnight”. Great old tune.
So can chain saws, chain saws are like dope
Washing machine is, indeed, a great idea. I hate filling the tub because it is a waste of water. But if I don’t use the water in the washing machine for flushing I can still use it for laundry.
Thanks, waterhill.
Yes, TP is an important item to keep stoked up on...LOL
Ha! My house must have seen its share of storms, it’s 161 years old. Neighbors are 160 and 162 years old. We are on a hill with ledge right below us, so I am not worried about my house.
Now my parent’s house, that is a different story. Have dealt with basement water for a while the last few years.
Wow, good luck up there. My brother, the only yankee in our family, lives on the beach in Milford. I’ve told him many times of our losses in Florida over the years and I’m hoping he takes those tales seriously. I don’t think he’s boarded up or anything. I hope he’s right and I’m wrong about concerns.
