The Economic Collapse blog reports that Robert Kiyosaki is warning of an impending economic collapse—and advises on preparations that include buying guns.
By way of credentials, Kiyosaki is the author of the successful “Rich Dad Poor Dad” books, reportedly having sold over 26 million copies, and runs the Rich Dad financial education website. He co-authored “Why We Want You to be Rich” with Donald Trump.
The Economic Collapse lists 11 “sound bites” from a Kiyosaki video (see sidebar media player) that include predictions of collapse where supermarket food supplies are reduced to less than three days—presumably with no restocking in sight. Of special relevance to readers of this column:

The significance here is not that a probability exists for terrible societal consequences from destructive financial policies—it’s that it is now being normalized by prominent voices, and more Americans are losing confidence in the system. Which means the message will reach beyond sites like The Economic Collapse, or one of my favorite regular stops, Western Rifle Shooters Association, where they routinely call our attention to other voices like The Market Ticker, which provides detailed analysis and explanations to back up the dire commentary.
The Los Angeles riots and Hurricane Katrina, where territory was ceded by civil authority for days, were mere localized disconnects where the majority of Americans could watch things unfold on TV and make conversation about how bad things looked for "those" poor people. When these Americans no longer have TV because they have no electricity—and all that that implies—we will indeed be living in interesting times.

Oh, it’s not too unusual. I FReep, but Hubby does not. He’s very conservative, but he isn’t exposed to the information that we see here.

Does he believe ammo will become more or less expensive? Because you can make the case that the cash in his pocket is devalueing at a frightening rate. The $20 price tag on a box of .45 ACP looks pricy ....until there's no ammo sitting there, and not much hope of any more coming quickly.

Well, that’s sort of the base line to decide the other. Again, inexpensive (easy to obtain) and reasonably accurate at a distance. The x39 may be acceptable. Let’s try it this way; would the x39 reach as far as accurately as the 5.56 M-16A1? With a scope option, that would be more than adequate.

Cons: High cap mags are after market and not cheap but not too expensive.

Pro: Lots of factory mags, still relatively cheap, Nearly indestructible, Doesn't require much cleaning, easy to use, Ammo is lighter you can carry more, fast follow up shots
Cons: Not as accurate as .308 and not as much range

Norinco hunters are still one of the most accurate AK ever sold, look like a sporting rifle but takes all high cap AK mags even drums.

Hot Brass came from when I got back into gun collecting. The first rifle I bought was a Spanish CETME. They kick brass out about 30 feet. My shooting buddy took one down the collar... &^%$##”;!!! I became “Hot Brass”.

Hubby put in an order at Bulk Ammo yesterday at 1 p.m., and it arrived today at 4 p.m. Zing! So that’s 2,000 rounds of .45 ACP, and 250 of .38 +P. I’m trying to get us up to 12,000 rounds total.
Excellent news. Now check out those Mosin rifles I told you about. For less than $500 you should be able to set yourself up with 2 of them AND 1,000 rounds of ammo.
I don’t care who you are, that’s darned cheap right there.
Hubby doesn’t do cheap. He even bought the more expensive ammo because it’s better for the guns.
Which reminds me, It’s time to clean mine...
Anyway, at least we’ve got him stocking up on ammo and looking at rifles and shotguns. It’s a start. He does tend to shop around, get all the info, and learn all about the product before he buys. It’s definitely the way to go about it.
I have a feeling that there is at least one Mosin-Nagant in our future.
