U.S. private employers added far more jobs than expected in June, bouncing back from a surprise slump the month before, a report by payrolls processor ADP showed on Thursday.
The private sector added 157,000 jobs last month, exceeding expectations for a gain of 68,000, according to a Reuters survey of economists.
May's figure was revised down to an increase of 36,000 from the previously reported 38,000, which had been an eight-month low.
The ADP report is jointly developed with Macroeconomic Advisers LLC.
The figures come ahead of the government's much more comprehensive labor market report on Friday, which includes both public and private sector employment.

How many of the jobs were spatula-ready?
“UNEXPECTED”
BOTTOMS UP!
Those numbers mean we are just standing still. They are just enough to compensate for the additional workers coming into the workforce. We have lost 8 million jobs.
157K is nothing. But they will trumpet this based on how low Obama has made expectations. And bcause they are in the tank.
Remember. When Bush was creating 250K in the run up to 04 elections, the media mocked it as barely treading water (and this was with an unemployment rate at 4.5%, full employment).
Now with 9% unemployment, 150K jobs is fantastic.
LOL!
RE: 157K is nothing. But they will trumpet this based on how low Obama has made expectations.
The current excuse is... we are STARTING to make progress... give Obama a few more years and the uptrend will translate to a boom.
Success! We’re staying even!
It’s sort of like kissing your sister, but better!
How many hours does that actually mean?
If they were all full time jobs, which I highly doubt, it would represent 6.280,000 hours gain per week.
If most were part-time jobs, the hours of pay (of which the money could technically be added to the economy) wouldn't add up to a decent pot of beans.....
I'll be surprised if the "official" number matches this. The two are rarely in synch.
don’t forget- they were “McJobs” that were being created as well... McDonalds now hires 70K people and its looked upon as a victory...
How many of these jobs were temp summer jobs?
