President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William's wedding next year. Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a ‘state occasion’ – and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands. They are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs to what will be the first royal ‘people’s wedding’, courtiers suggested. A handful of heads of state are likely to be invited in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

Nooo... the vision-impaired prime minister got the DVDs. The queen I think got an ipad with Obama’s favorite show tunes, and copies of his speeches. There was also something about a plastic helicopter from the WH gift shop.
But the most outrageous part is where mooch-elle put her hands all over the Queen. Then that man went off and gave profound bows to every other monarch he met, esp his patron the King of Araby, but not the Queen. She just gets to get scared (80+ y.o. woman) by a big mean black woman. Sort of like that man’s own grandmother admitting she was scared when accosted by aggressive panhandlers of color.
The royals are under no obligation whatsoever, though, to invite either of the Obamas to a wedding. Why should they invite yet another assault on the Queen's person?
At the time the "back-pat" faux pas occurred, I wondered if Michelle had refused to be briefed by the State Department's etiquette experts or what, but the more I thought about it, I decided that it was probably a deliberate thing. An expression of contempt, perhaps, for the British and their royalty in particular, in keeping with the return of the Churchill bust and the "gifts" they gave.

1) I agree with your understanding of the royal family’s means of support. People in America ought too ‘eff off. This country forfeited its right to criticize the way England conducts her affairs when they threw off their rightful Lord and Sovereign, George III.
2) That 200 million may have been exaggerated. However, we know they spent like there was no tomorrow and we HATE that here. We also know they THINK they’re royalty, but they’re really just boorish unamerican prats.
Who snubbed who? The Obamas have gone out of their way to treat the Brits like crap. This is simply payback.
The last thing they probably would have wanted would be to have to go to that, but you can rest assured that teacups are being hurled over the fact that they were disinvited.

I believe that should be "assault on the Queen's Majesty", as it is improper to address her personally, one must speak to "the office" as it were.
But I agree completely, I would not be surprised if that man and his "partner" are never allowed back in the presence of the Queen's Majesty again. Ever.

Not having Michelle there will cut down the catering bill considerably, and all they give up is cheap CD for a wedding present.
