President Obama and his wife Michelle will not be invited to Prince William's wedding next year. Because Prince William is not yet heir to the throne, his wedding to Kate Middleton is not classed as a state occasion and the couple feel under no pressure to fill the 2,000-strong guest list with heads of state, the Mail understands. They are more eager to ask ordinary citizens and charity workers than foreign dignitaries and VIPs to what will be the first royal peoples wedding, courtiers suggested. A handful of heads of state are likely to be invited in line with previous royal weddings, possibly including Frances President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni.

You know, it occurs to me that the Pres. would not be invited, it would be the first Lady. Mrs. Reagan attended Charles & Diana’s nuptials and Mrs. Clinton attended Diana’s funeral. You’d think they’d invite Dr. Jill Biden, at least. I am a bit surprised...
Well, cheers to Wills & Kate
Britain makes far more from the royals than pays out to them.
‘Naturalman1975’ here is very good at the facts and figures.
Why would they want the one time 4 year occupant of the Presidency, a not very popular or successful one at that, involved in their wedding and in their wedding photos?
That would be funny.
Sometimes on the FR I run across a term that goes beyond my understanding. I would be ever so greatful if you could explain the term "colonialist honkeys."
That would be lovely. BamBam and the Wookie would flip out.
That the people should not pay the cost of the wedding was widely discussed in England. The palace announced that Charles would pay the costs except for the security. I know that the people pay the salary of the Royals; however, the Windsors are the largest landowners in the country so they have considerable personal wealth.
Why would they invite that worthless freak show from Chicago?
You also miss the point that the Royals have a sense of responsibility towards the nation and do good work on behalf of the nation and many charities.
I can tell you as a Scot/Brit, that many ‘dole’ claimants in Britain are lazy and selfish. Many are drunks or junkies who are still drunk or spaced out when they go to claim their fortnightly ‘giro’ at the benefit office (I know, I have served them as a benefit office worker AND been an umemployed person behind them). They cant spell or give the meaning of the word responsibility, let alone show any.
I am no royalist, but I’d rather my tax and NI goes to pay for Charles and William and Kate than some junkie waste of space who cant be bothered to work.
Princess Di in her second life as an ambassador of good will, would have liked Sarah Palin. They both would “get” the fishbowl life and its toll.
I suspect anyone from the US govt that William invites will be someone who had ties to his late mother
SMILE MOOSHELL! YOU’RE ON CANDID CAMERA!
(this shot speaks VOLUMES)
The Royal Family is not supported by taxes. They used to receive money known as 'the civil list': but this wasn't public money. It was a replacement for income from the Crown Lands. It was their property. Now as I understand it they don't even receive the civil list money - by their own choice.
I can see why you might be confused. Your Royal Family (and is there another word?) spent 200 million dollars a day during their train-wreck of a visit to India. But that's not the way things happen over here.
Obama baby mama acted like a hick, getting all up in the Queen’s space when they visited them. As much as Moochelle thinks of herself, she is NOT royalty no matter how many makep artists she has. Hmmm...I wonder if she has wipers.
But let me quote: ‘Royal etiquette dictates that the Queen not be touched unless she reaches out first. Patting the Queen’s back, however, is almost unprecedented behavior in Buckingham Palace.’

Unless Kate and Wills want to turn their royal occasion into a ghetto shindig, they are spot on in not extending an invite. I imagine they didn’t want to embarrass the US anymore as they pretty much know what wedding gift they would get from the Obamas. Let’s just say I am sure they already have ipods and really don’t want a gift basket filled with pickled okra, cucumbers and carrots from MO.

Even in the Kingdom of Really Small Posts, your #25 would be viewed as really small.
Well, would YOU invite a guest to your wedding who’s known globally for giving the weirdest, tackiest gifts?
The Brits could really give a backhand to Mr & Mrs Marxist, by inviting Gov Palin. omg...that would be incredibly entertaining. Let’s email Prince William and suggest that!
some truth in this, I was asked to provide a traditional British dish for my companies pot luck. I declined and explained that there was a good reason I’d married an Italian lady.
Oh, that would be golden! LOL
