Chapel Hill, N.C. — Elizabeth Edwards' cancer has spread, and her health has deteriorated, multiple sources told WRAL News Monday.
Edwards, 61, the wife of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, was briefly hospitalized recently, but she is now at home, and her family and friends are lending their support.
She was first diagnosed with cancer in the final weeks of the 2004 presidential campaign, when her husband, who was at the time a U.S. senator from North Carolina, was the Democratic nominee for vice president. The couple didn't disclose her illness until after the election

Something doesn’t sound right, if she’s 61 and her kids are 12 and 10.
No mention of the Lord. Even on her "deathbed", no Lord. Unless I missed something here, she's got a heck of a lot more to worry about when her time comes.

Breck Girl told us she would likely die by Christmas back in 2004. I hope we see this story again just before Christmas 2016 with one other detail ... President Palin pardoned John Edwards so he could care for his ailing (ex-)wife.

She used fertility treatments and while they haven’t stated one way or another, some have speculated that the Edwards used donor eggs. They had the youngest 2 children after their son Wade was killed in the auto accident.
And for whomever it was that asked earlier, the Edwards are divorced, but I do not believe he is living with the mother of his baby.

I wish no ill will to anyone suffering from cancer. She married a sociopath and there are lots of other women and men who have done likewise. I pray for her comfort from both scourges in her remaining days.
I noticed that also. Prayers that she will come to a saving faith before her death so that she may truly know what saving grace is. So sad if she does not. The cancer pain will be nothing compared to what awaits her if she doesn't understand and belief in God's true grace through Christ Jesus.

As do I. Hope is a wonderful thing, but only when it is in the Lord.
I completely agree with you, abb. You must be a person who sees the glass half full. Despite everything, I too still want to believe that occasionally our government will do the right thing, and holding off on any indictment during the final days of this woman is the right thing to do.
She has been through enough! I look at her law school graduation picture and I see so much promise. There was a lovely young woman who had made law review and was on her way to a federal clerkship and a marriage to the man she loved. How horrible it all turned out.
I pray she finds peace and comfort as she approaches the end.
Fertility drugs, donor and just too busy chasing the dream. So sad. Nothing could be more gut wrenching than the idea that you will not be around to raise your kids or hold your grandbabies. Prayers for her and her kids from one mother to another.
Prayers up for Elizabeth. May she come to know The Lord and may He grant her healing or the mercy of an easy passage from this life, as He sees fit.
Nothing against the kids, of course -- but for all kinds of reasons this strikes me as a very weird family.
From what I heard this morning...sounds like she has only weeks left...I pray she is comforted by the Lord and her family....May His peace be graced upon all of them during this time...
