The latest screw the consumer attack is coming from Angus Beef cattlemen and America's meat sellers.
Try and find a piece of meat with the "Certified Angus Beef" (CAB) sticker on it that also has the acceptable USDA grade on it. Very difficult, if at all.
My local market managers when asked about the USDA grade on thier CAB meat say: "Oh, it's choice or select."
So how are we supposed to know which? I don't knowingly buy "select".
This is a scam...ripoff...and consumer fraud!
Complain to your meat seller and tell your congressman to force the USDA to stop this fraud!
Without the hide still attatched, or DNA testing, it’s hard to tell. Don’t get me started on the old joke about it all being pink on the inside.
A favorite past-time of the local immature teenage male population was using a bb or pellet gun to shoot out the flourescent light behind the 'G' on their sign.
It was not uncommon in the summer time to see gigantic well-lit, block letters, reading:
BLACK
AN US
Floating in the night sky over a section of Pacific Avenue.
(Not that I would ever have engaged in such senseless vandalism, mind you...)
Did you know that any beef with black in the color can, and is, sold as ‘Angus’ beef?
Yes, that does include Holstein dairy cattle!
that’s too funny.....about 6 weeks ago I was driving to my parents and as I passed McDonald’s I noticed the message board said “Try our new anus wraps” I almost drove off the road I was laughing so hard.....so on the way back home, I stopped in and told the manager.....she was so embarrassed and didn’t realize that someone has removed the “g” over night....later in the day as I passed by again, the entire message board was blank....too funny!
Me too.
I saw some Prime beef at Costco a week ago, but stick with their Choice. Very good.
The only cut I want Prime is beef liver. It really makes a difference. Much less connective tissue. Can't remember the last time I had any though.
Back when I attended Virginia Tech, the meat that got delivered to the dining halls had the following message stamped on the outside of the boxes:
“USDA - Beef - Fit For Human Consumption”
I wonder if those will be covered by Obamacare...
The certification of angus includes that it will have a good degree of marbling and a good grain of it. It is separate from the normal USDA grading scheme. Looking at the certified angus criteria, it appears the beef would have to be at least the equivalent of “choice” to be labeled as such.
We need Senate Bill S510 to save us from this travesty
/sarc
That sign could be over the White House now.
I’ve wondered about this.
We don’t even know if it’s “Angus” or whatever.
Since the grocers know that the consumer will pay more for “Angus” they may cheat a little.
A local fresh seafood market owner went to jail for selling as fresh caught local seafood stuff that came frozen from Vietnam and China................
It would not surprise me if the meats labeled domestic “Angus” was Argentinian imports..................
LOL
AND they demand a "thank you, Sir" to boot.
I think what he’s getting at is false labeling on the part of grocers and /or meat packers that said meats are “Angus” when you actually buy Herford or whatever else they killed that week.................
That usually happens when they are wandering around the meat section talking to each other holding up a package of pork tenderlins marveling at the fantastic texture and not believing it's "the other white meat".
They do cartwheels over ham.
Go Vegan, no more problem /s
I prefer Braunschweiger.
Steer clear of it...
