When I was gowing up, there was (and still may be for all I know) a restaurant in Virginia Beach called "The Black Angus". They had a very large, lit, sign.

A favorite past-time of the local immature teenage male population was using a bb or pellet gun to shoot out the flourescent light behind the 'G' on their sign.

It was not uncommon in the summer time to see gigantic well-lit, block letters, reading:

BLACK
AN US

Floating in the night sky over a section of Pacific Avenue.

(Not that I would ever have engaged in such senseless vandalism, mind you...)

That sign could be over the White House now.

In my town there's an "Eastwood" development and golf course.

Once in a while the "s" gets stolen.

When that happens, I always expect the bottom stroke of the "E" to go next, but that hasn't happened yet.
