Thank God George W. Bush won the war in Iraq or this thing will seriously be imploding under the lack of leadership that this administration displays.

I would not be entirely surprised if Petraeus were our next president. Stranger things have happened.

Now that’s going to strengthen his far-left wacko support.

His Majesty missed a golden opportunity to prove that our war effort is more important than his ego. Rather, he has reinforced his stereotype as a thin-skinned, vain autocrat.

Good luck to the General. He has a big job ahead of him.
To: reaganaut1
Petraeus should just resign. Let Obama name some lesbian “general” to the job instead, if the ROE aren’t going to change.

I would not be entirely surprised if Petraeus were our next president Patraeus has said repeatedly he doesn't want anything to do with politics, especially for the presidency. I don't blame him a bit for that.

When it goes off the rails, he can blame McChrystal.

I would not be entirely surprised if Petraeus were our next president. Stranger things have happened. I hope to hell he's not! He has described himself as a "Rockefeller Republican". Yes, on the record! And not in 1975...recently! And not to Rolling Stone! Petraeus is NOT the savior the GOP is looking for.

Blame your predecessor
Blame your second in command
Prepare three envelopes...
Except that seconds in command seem to be bailing out before they can be blamed...

Isn’t that a non-trivial demotion for Petraeus? And how are the liberals going to feel about having the Afghan war handled by the very person Bush relied upon to oversee the detested “surge” in Iraq?
Obama seems to have a talent for jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Somehow I don’t think this decision is going to reverse his declining approval ratings.

Was McCrystal simply relieved of command or has he retired from the military?
