Coach scrutinized for introductory quotes (Gay Rights Activists Question Motive for Comments)
Columbia Daily Tribune ^ | April 25, 2010 | David Briggs

Robin Pingeton has yet to so much as run a practice as Missouri’s new women’s basketball coach...Some gay and lesbian advocacy groups have openly criticized Pingeton because of comments she made during her introductory press conference.... Pingeton called herself “a Christian who happens to be a coach” and highlighted the theme of family.

“This is something very unique for Division I women’s basketball — a staff where the entire staff is married with kids,” she said. “Family is important to us, and we live it every day.”

....Carroll, sports project director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, told Inside Higher Ed that Pingeton’s comments seemed to be “subtly proving that everyone in their program was straight.”

Wrote Pat Griffin, former director of the “It Takes a Team” program for the Women’s Sports Foundation, on her blog: “Why do you think a coach would foreground this information... ? Is she beginning her recruiting efforts already by sending a not so subtle message to potential athletes and parents that Missouri is now a Christian heterosexual team? Maybe in Missouri this is perceived as a positive message. I don’t know. I’ve never been to Missouri.”

These people don't know Coach Pingeton and have never been to Missouri. They sure seem to have a big problem with family values.

Good thing this wasn't said in Canada, or she'd face charges for hate speech. In the United States, she'll just get harassed for being pro-family and pro-values.

the homo groups go to areas from MA AND DC to spread their agenda suing local towns and govt like they did in my town

the fact is that if nature intended two of the same sex to be having sex then they would be able to reproduce and because they cannot then it is not natural

One big mistake the homosexuals make is that they think anyone who opposes their agenda is a religious person which is not the case, most I know are not religious but oppose their sick perverted agenda

A different coach could have stood up and declared herself a proud lesbian who pledged to bring "diversity" to the team -- and she would have been applauded by the national media.

The definitions are:
Far left views: that's what everyone believe. Shout it from the rooftops!
Conservative views: these extremist views are held by a minority of people clinging to family values and religion. They will be stamped out.

This is just the natural progression that political correctness takes us: to the point where just stating a belief in “Christian family values” is perceived as a threat by fringe minority groups.

It never ceases to raise my ire when a limited percentage of the 3%-4% of the population who consider themselves homosexual demand the rest of us be silent regarding our beliefs and values. I refuse to consider that reasonable and will not give that to them.

I greatly appreciate the forward honesty of this coach. Her university and team are very fortunate to have her!

Coach Pingeton is also fairly attractive. Sheri Coale, the OU women’s coach is HOT, HOT, HOT. Only reason I watched a part of the Women’s Final Four. She was smokin’.

There are LOTS of parents of future college athletes who are very concerned about the sexual orientation of the coaches recruiting their daughters. So much so that the Lesbian BB coaches association in conjunction with the NCAA have issued a policy denouncing the use of a coach’s orientation when recruiting a player.

I was in Atlanta many years ago at the same time the Women’s Final four was being held. It’s a freaking Lesbian convention in town. One lesbian group claimed that the attendees at this years Women’s Final Four in San Antonio was going to be well over 50%.

I’d have to agree. When UCONN came up to play BC, there were six buses filled with blue flannel and flat tops. ps. they seemed angry.

Turn about is fair play. Don’t Leftists like ‘fairness’? If homosexuals feel like they need to flaunt their perversity in the public’s face why can’t heterosexuals flaunt their bedroom habits, too?

This lady is pretty courageous for doing this. I look forward to reading about more of this happening and watching the Leftists go ape-doody!

Oh, because no one else knows what they go through. They’re victims, just ask them and they’ll tell you. All they want to do is live their lives, this is the way they were made (God did it and who is anyone to argue?) and they didn’t have any choice in the matter. They just want the simple things that everyone else has. And if you don’t agree with “the agenda”, they’ll become abusive and look for any possible venue for a lawsuit.

I don’t think I left out too much of the spiel, if I did, too bad ‘cause the nausea is becoming overwhelming. It’s part of their indoctrination process.

If she was subtlely trying to imply that she and her staff were all straight, I think she did a terrific job. This is how whispering campaigns stop. We all know lesbianism is a major problem in women’s athletics although it is often kept out of the sports pages. I don’t know if this coach’s statement was a way of saying “we have no lesbians on our coaching staff” but if that was the message she tried to send, she did it in a way that was not directly discriminatory. Bravo.
