A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.
Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

The original article stated that it was 3 hours before the prez was notified.

Yeah, that was stupid and disappointing in light of breaking news.
To give due credit, CNN continues doing a good job today — covering it, indeed, from every angle. They are doing their job today.
I first saw this story after the Wash Post had changed and took out the 3 hour timeline. Today I am able to see the differnt articles they put out to spare Our Dear Reader or themselves. Thank you for this post. Once again the MSM, for me, is shown for what they are.
I have just now heard that new rules will be put in place that prevent people from leaving their seats the last hour of the flight. And we all know the last hour can turn in to two hours or more with bad WX and holding, etc. Perhaps, when people start peeing in their seats, this rule will be lifted. Apparently, blankets and pillows [and anything on one's lap] will be banned as well in that last hour.
My friends, this is what happens when gov’t gets their hands on private enterprise. They are trying to deflect criticism from themselves by doing something...anything, to make it appear they are effective. They are not. They waste time and money screening everyone, instead of those who fit a well established profile. Let us not forget that the first act of terrorism under Obama that happened at Ft. Hood most likely could have been avoided if political correctness had not been invoked several times along the way.
That said, I have no bright ideas of my own to offer. I do know that the real strength of America lies in its citizens and not in its government. We need to return our gov’t to one that is of, by, and for the people. And we need to do it soon!

This is an “attempted act of terrorism” but Ft Hood which claimed 13 lives was what? A misdemeanor? A cry for help from an oppressed Muslim? Poor potty training? WHAT?
Gibbs said this was an attempted terrorist attack. Like attempted murder. There is no such thing as attempted terrorism. There are successful and unsuccessful terrorist attacks. This falls into the unsuccessful category. Gibbs was trying to minimize the attack, not admit to it being true terrorism.

First off, BASED ON THE ARTICLE...there was only about 60-90 minutes from the landing to the initial briefing.
Second, if there had been 3 hour delay, so what? The attack was stopped, the man was in custody, the investigation was already underway and despite claims to the contrary, internal security measures were tightened up. The LEO and counter terrorism folks were doing their jobs without Obama having to tell them to.
Obama would have nothing to add to the scenario. Nothing.
His “need to know” is strictly a vanity issue.
“Need” to know? Why? He doesn’t add value to the process. It is strictly so he has something to say in press conferences.
Obama’s participation was not needed.

I’ve been offline and away from news all day so I don’t know if the supposed 3 hour gap issue has been settled yet or not.
As of last night when I last posted before finally going to bed, it seemed to me that the freepers railing against obama, etc were simply flailing at thin air in anger.
Freepers couldn’t get their facts right. First there’s a three hour gap, then they say he was informed before the flight landed.
They jumped to the conclusion that WaPo was hiding something when it really looked like WaPo made a mistake and then corrected that mistake.
Per the article, the plane lands about 1pm in Detriot which is 12pm Central time.
Honolulu is 5 hours later than Detroit which makes it about 8 am there.
The article says he was informed between 9-930 local time.
That means only about 90 minutes to develop an initial report for POTUS which is pretty damn good. No one wants to give a BS full-of-holes report to any commander or high ranking superior, let alone POTUS. When one has to interrupt a VIP one wants to make sure one has enough facts to make the report worthwhile, which makes the 90 minute reporting pretty damn good.
Even if it was 3 hours later, Obama has little to nothing to add to the process considering that the attack was done, the man in custody, the investigation initiated, and counter terrorism protocols activated.
That is why I said so what. Even last night I said that the only thing obama would do if looped in early would be to hinder the process.

When THE ARTICLE says that officials had not confirmed his claims of AQ ties, that is not me nor my opinion.

CNN just within the last 30 seconds said the plane landed at 12:51 which is what last night’s article said.
Put together the 5 hour time difference and you end up with 60-90 minutes until potus was notified.
