A White House official said the incident was an attempted act of terrorism. The FBI is investigating and President Obama, celebrating Christmas in Hawaii, was told of the incident about three hours after the plane landed, officials said.
Obama has told White House officials that all appropriate measures be taken to increase security for air travel, a spokesman said. Nevertheless, officials said, they are not prepared to raise the terrorism alert level, currently at orange -- or the second-highest of five levels -- for domestic and international air travel.

Then what information are you using for when he was notified?
What should they have told him at 7:15 am?

Wow...could it be that it took a couple hours to develop enough information to the the president without coming across as a complete idiot?
Have you even had to disturb or wake a VIP?
Trust me, you want to have enough CONFIRMED information of enough importance to make it worthwhile.
So how long do you think it took the guys on the ground to develop enough information to make an immediate report to the president

Ironically, it appears that you haven't read the article.
As I said: A foreign national who is on a U.S. government watch list of people with suspected terrorist ties to Al Qaeda, gets on a plane headed to the U.S. and attempts to blow the plane up over U.S. soil. The CIC should be informed ASAP whenever our country is under attack.
I think someone is having problems with time zone differences.
If Obama was told before the plane landed then he was told early enough to make the original premise of this thread quite foolish.
Maybe they’ll say he was in Church.

It appears to me that someone forgot about time zone differences between Honolulu and Detroit. That would explain the three hour 'gap' as well as why WaPo cleaned up the article....they made a mistake. But no...we gotta have a conspiracy story and knee jerk responses.

I swore when this idiot was elected I was going to treat him with as much repsect as the left gave Bush43 and hold him to the same “standards”.
6 minutes vs. 3 hours - I’ll let people make their own judgement on that....
O is not a VIP.
But he is the CIC. And if there were mulitple attacks it would be important to secure the CIC. O was MIA - unable to contact for 3 hours. Knowing that he wasn’t reachable for 3 hours after someone connected with AQ tried to kill 250+ Americans, it’s important to find out where the break down was in case their are future emergencies.
Was it the fault of the SS? When did they know? Who made the decision to not inform O? Or did they try and he wasn’t reachable?
This can’t happen again which is why it’s important to find out why he wasn’t available for CIC purposes for 3 hours on Christmas morning. That’s all, we just want to know where he was and what he was doing while the FBI met the plane.

I don’t think Obama is capable of answering the phone at 3am and don’t really want him to either.

This administration? They didn’t tell him because terrorism isn’t on their top ten list of things to do.
Can you imagine Bush43 not being told about a terrorist attack, especially using a plane, after 9-11?
The media would have tore him apart and someone in the Admin would have lost their job.
Think if this had been Bush......they got so mad because Goerge Bush did not respond immediately, but flew around to make sure that landing, etc. was safe.

It’s irrelevant what he could have/would have done - the point is he was not told.
Is that by his own command? Don’t bother him on terrorism unless it’s as big as 9-11 or is this Administration so disorganized they can’t brief the President?
This would not have happened under Bush43, hell it wouldn’t have happened under Clinton either to be honest.
The question is why was he not informed for three hours.
he seems more the hawaii weed type - but who knows? if he was wasted, they should just fess up and get it over with.
