Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.
The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.
The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.
The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

ABC News has identified Major Malik Nadal Hasan as the gunman who was killed during the rampage; two other suspects are said to be in custody. Update: The Pentagon has confirmed his identity. He reportedly used two handguns in the attack. Several news organizations are reporting that he was 39 or 40 years old.

Most recent update. There are 12 dead and 31 injured. The shooter who was killed was Major Malik Nadal Hasan – a recent convert to Islam. The names of the two other suspects still in custody haven’t been leaked yet. There is a report from Governor Rick Perry of Texas that there were three shooters. Haven’t heard a second source for that.

From the CNN website: The gunman was a soldier, and two other soldiers have been detained as suspects, Army Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said.
