THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.
The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."
The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.
And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.
Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.
Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.
Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.
Now, if Scozzafava dropped out, I believe a larger proportion of her voters would switch to Hoffman. As it is, in a three-way race, I believe Hoffman is going to win anyways. Scozzafava will be lucky to get 10%
I wonder if Mr.Newt had any idea who this woman was when he opened his mouth to support her. I can’t believe that he would have knowingly given his hand to this woman.
Well said, my friend. Voting for RINOs does nothing to advance conservatism.
I think you're right. I also think the race has become a monster the RINO establishment never expected to face. Now that Palin has publicly supported Hoffman, my concern is that they will be in cahoots with the Dems and the media to ensure Hoffman loses, so they can use the loss as a means of discrediting Palin.
This is from an episode where Squidward and Spongebob are working the graveyard shift at the Crusty Crab and Squidward concocts a scary story about the “Hash Slinging Slasher.” While he’s telling it, Spongebob begins nervously biting his fingernails and so on until it progresses to him eating his own hands out of a popcorn bucket. I was LMAO when I saw it the first time. Oh yeah... I watch it because my kids like it... that’s it!
You need to stay GOP and push the RINOs out that way, and we need to close all open primaries.
Newt, though I agree with allot of what you say, now’s the time for you to get out of the way.
I can't imagine the wonkish Newt not knowing exactly who she is.
He's endorsing her because of who she is, a "Republican."
We are now battling for the soul of the party. Whether Sarah is the best possible nominee or not I’m not yet sure, but I am sure of this: I will judge other potential nominees by whether they gather under the banner Palin is raising on the battlefield or the one Steele and Gingrich are raising.
What sucks is that if we lose this battle, it will take at least an election cycle to get a credible third party established, and that assumes that the GOP sufferes the same sort of collapse the Whigs did...and that can’t be counted on. We must win this...follow Regan and take back our party!
I am not, because I believe that converting the RNC from the inside is the path of least resistance.
But that does not mean I will vote for the RNC in the general.
Wnen WE, the citizens and voters of this nation insist on that course of action ourselves, in large numbers, we will inact change.
That is what is happening here with Sarah and others...and it is what MUST happen with each of us.
When we do, the right candidates and the right parties will rise to the top like cream rises to the top of fresh milk because we will have insisted and forced it to be so.
The FR sanctioned:
RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION EFFORT
which is an FR Alliance web site, is about precisely that. Please join us, and a lot of other FREEPERS there, as we work together and identify and support candidates dedicated to doing rpecisely that at all levels.
The Newt Gingrich angle made me think of this Day By Day cartoon:
The Newt Gingrich angle made me think of this Day By Day cartoon:
Given that I live in a state with closed primaries, I really don’t have an option of changing my party affiliation. If I did I wouldn’t be able to vote in the primary.
bttt ((((PING))))

That’s telling. How will either of them stand up to Congress if they can’t bring themselves to say that DeDe the Commie isn’t a real Republican?
