THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:
The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.
The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.
Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."
The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.
And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.
Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.
Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.
Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.
Yes, Reagan could not win; too few whites left in the state. Sadly, it all boils down to demographics.
Stop making a fool of yourself.
BTW, to your Rev. War comment on home page,
I have researched over 12 5th great grandfathers who
fought in the Rev. War.
James Buckley is 86 years old but that’s still younger than some senators.
You’re effectively asking conservatives to support someone who is arguably more liberal than the Democrat opponent! Do you not see the problem here?
You first.
Thanks I got your email.
I understand what you are saying.
Let see what election night brings, if Hoffman wins it will be good.
If he does’nt then it is a another sad example of third party getting Dems elected.
Cool!
That brought tears to my eyes. TY for sharing. My 2 most revered persons, politically, of course.
And the "urban areas" are Watertown (pop. 26705) and Plattsburgh (pop. 18816).
This is a district that is far more reliant on personal contact and groundwork than media warfare.
It's the kind of place where upsets can be created.
It wouldn't matter much even if the Democrat were elected.
Scozzafava is more left wing than even the Democrat Bill Owens, so much so, that Scozzafava has been backed by no less a person that Kos himself.
Put Scozzafava in the House, and she will vote with 0bama 99% of the time. Exactly what difference does it make if it's the Democrat or Scozzafava?
I am asking conservatives to present a united front and back the Republican party and not the third party.
These kind of arguments should be settled in primaries ( which i understand Ny23 did’nt have).
Does’nt matter how conservative some blue dog Dems are, the party leadership and congressional committees are dominated by liberals.
Right or wrong, the Republican party remains the only channel for conservatism to get implemented.
The Huckster taking a stand would be a strain on his weak backbone.
There is no “arguably” about it.
Scozzlafava IS more liberal than the Democratic candidate.
Self seeking? LOL! What about Fred Thompson? Is he self seeking, also.
Are YOU one who would NOT stand behind someone/something you believe in?
You will make a very fine serf.
I will add Ft. Drum into the mix as well.
I live in a county with no elected democrats, but lots of damned leftist republicans.
I would gladly vote for any conservative, but these pukes? No thanks. Same goes for Scozzofavabeanbagass.
But considering the candidate the GOP has put forward, she won't be any different, in actual fact, from the Democrat Candidate, so there is really nothing to lose, in this instance.
