3:09 pm - Judge Dawson plans to enforce his order for the passport and related papers, even if the case is moved to Ohio.
3:10 pm - "We still don't have a complete copy of (Rifqa's) passport," said Bartholomew. "I am very alarmed that it hasn' been provided," she added. She said she has learned there are more documents being withheld.
3:18 pm - Attorneys are talking about arrangements for a psychological evaluation and counseling. She is to see a local psychologist on Friday morning.
3:21 pm - Elahi said he suspects "a ploy" by Rifqa's legal representatives to delay her moving back home to Franklin County, Ohio.
3:22 pm - Stemberger suggested that Ohio court be told about the local psychologist, to ease their concerns that she is getting the best of care.
3:23 pm - Judge Dawson asked Ohio officials if they can schedule her evaluation soon after her arrival there. They say it could be done within 30 days. Her parents would also undergo evaluations.
3:25 pm - A report could be delivered within a couple of weeks, they said.
3:27 pm - Rifqa has been looking down for most of the hearing, writing into a tablet. She is paying attention to the comments being made in court.
3:29 pm - Dawson: The court is going to agree with Ohio that they have jurisdiction. Florida retains emergency jurisdiction.

You are so right. That’s my thoughts on this precisely. Being under 18, if she were pregnant and wanted an abortion, there’d be groups of people coming from all corners of the country to protect her and ensure that she be allowed to come/go and do what she wanted, regardless of what her parents or anyone else would say on the matter.
3:46 pm - Ohio attorneys for Bary's parents are arguing for her quick transfer there. Ohio Judge Gill said she agreed with Judge Dawson that immigration papers need to be provided immediately, before the teen is sent back to Ohio.
3:54 pm - Bartholomew said she has received copies of only two pages of Rifqa's mother's passport. She wants the entire document.
3:55 pm - Dawson said he is troubled that the parents seem not to know what the court demands.
3:57 pm - Dawson set an administrative hearing on October 23rd. He wants to know by then that the immigration papers have been supplied, as he ordered in each of the three hearings he had held for the teenager's status.
Perhaps there’s still a glimmer of hope for her..........
I don’t know. At least, there is a delay. It’s so frightening the way they want to hurry her back up to Ohio. Then they will probably flee the country and she’s done for.
When’s her 18th birthday...perhaps the judge knows something about delays more than we think.

She turned 17 just in the last couple of months, so close to a year from now.
The argument can be made that the courts shouldn’t get involved in a familial dispute, because there is absolutely no indication or evidence that what this girl says she’s afraid of would actually happen. Is there any evidence, other than what she imagines? Does she say her parents ever threatened her? Has she been kept from school or shut away since her conversion? What does her local pastor say, as opposed to a minister she met of Facebook?
The fact that this family is Muslim is not enough reason to imagine that they would murder her.
if she where Muslim and her father a Christian Hetero there would be no question of her rights here.

She had to convert to Christinity in secret,hence, no “local pastor”. She kept her faith secret from her family for 3 years.
When her father found out, he confronted her and (she says) he thratened to kill her. He has denied to investigators that he intends to kill his daughter.
When she ducked down in the car on one occassion to keep friends from seeng her in her hijab, he struck her in the face.
A muslim website posted a specific threat to “kill her”. This was taken down when publcized.
Her mother threatened they would return her to Sri Lanka in a muslim-dominant society (and where”honor killings” are more morally acceptable.)
The father has sold his jewelry business and seems to be eliminating ties to this country.
The father chose a mosque far from his home with several other mosques closer by. This mosque has hosted a number of radical speakers and supporters of terrorist groups like hamas.
Although she will initially be placed in foster care in Ohio, her parents may well get her back and be in a position to return to Sri Lanka. Also, the large muslim local community will be able to locate her.
Honor killings have happened in the USA. Yasser Said shot his 2 teenage daughters in Texas in 2007 and has never been caught. He went into hiding with the help of the muslim network.
