(snip)
The libertarian movement within the Republican Party, led by U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, is gaining ground fast, to the acute embarrassment of the party establishment.
(snip)
In essence, libertarian conservatives stand for small government, small business and personal freedom. This translates into lower taxes, increased employment and increased prosperity. These were the policies of President Ronald Reagan and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
Listening to mainline Republican Party spokespersons, people could be persuaded to think Republicans are libertarian. However, recent Republican actions show them to support big government, big business and increasing control over people. This has resulted in higher taxes, massive unemployment and a potentially catastrophic fall in consumer confidence and demand.
Indeed, public sentiment often blames Republicans directly for the current economic problems facing most Americans. Tarnished, they must restore their image. They also need a candidate who appears to represent real change from the increasingly loathed "Washington."
Sarah Palin is definitely from outside Washington. Also, she is an attractive woman, filled with self-confidence and proven magnetism.
However, the Republican Party is deeply split between the traditional big-government establishment and the small-government libertarians...
(snip)
At present, it appears that Palin is disapproved of very strongly by the powerful Republican establishment. So far, they have fired against her only the relatively mild political arrows of ridicule and the leaked branding of her as a phony.
(snip)
However, polls show an increasingly strong resentment of big government.
(snip)
If the Republican Party establishment truly wants to regain power, it may have to accept a route led by a libertarian and decidedly "provincial" woman. They may wince, but Sarah Palin may be the only one capable of returning them to the White House.

Palin’s appeal is largely a reflection of conservative discontent with the RNC. NRCC, and NRSC. The more the GOP elites bash Palin the more conservatives will embrace Palin.
Yesterday, I received junk mail from the RNC and John McCain’s PAC asking me for money. I will use their envelopes and reply back to them with this message:
My Money is going to buy Palins book.

I thought this is what the Republicans were supposed to stand for namely small government, small business and personal freedom. There were some Republicans that backed big business, Robert Taft comes to mind, but the Republicans were supposed to stand for a less intrusive Federal Government and more personal freedom with financial responsibility. I think Palin may fill the bill among the national candidates. Bush et al jumped the track on many items.
Palin also has the advantage that she is a lifetime NRA member and she hunts and fishes. What could be closer to our roots.

Time for the GOP to go the way of the Whigs... Sarah... Time for third Party. Lets bury this Rino disease.

Yep, and it's probably the ash heap of history for the Republican party if they fail to woo Palin to take the top spot.
I think her terms are going to be tough, I know mine are if they ever want my vote again.

Another analysis on this.
In her Hong Kong speech, Palin spoke as a libertarian Republican capitalizing on the increasing support shown for Ron Paul's politics...But is Palin really a libertarian or has she been pandering to her libertarian conservative audiences?

There is little difference between RINO’s and Democrats. The RINO’s would just as soon slam this so-called “healthcare” bill down our throats if any had the balls to do so....instead they’re happy to let the Liberal Dems do the dirty work and then capture the presidency in 2012 and proceed to “feast on the spoils”....

I agree the RINO-virus needs to be expunged. However, if Palin were to try it via a third party both she and the virus would succumb.
It will be interesting to see if there is ANYONE at the RNC still capable of completing a thought.
I think Palin or someone who becomes as popular as she she is among the base might be able to run the RINOs out of the RNC and save the Party. A third Party can't win and if the Democrats win, even by default, the nation is finished. If the nation is finished, nothing else matters.

If memory serves me, when Palin was elected Governor of Alaska, her first targets were the RINOs. I’ll bate the RINOs in Washington are scared of a repeat performance.
