Obamas relationship with Davis would last from age nine to eighteen and is described in chapters four and five of Obamas autobiography, Dreams from my Father. Obama describes gramps other black male friends but is not particularly impressed with them.
He then writes:
There was one exception; a poet named Frank who lived in a dilapidated house in a run-down section of Waikiki .He would read us his poetry whenever we stopped by his house, sharing whiskey with gramps out of an emptied jelly jar. As the night wore on, the two of them would solicit my help in composing dirty limericks. Eventually, the conversation would turn to laments about women.
Theyll drive you to drink, boy, Frank would tell me soberly. And if you let em theyll drive you into your grave.
I was intrigued by old Frank, with his books and whiskey breath and the hint of hard-earned knowledge behind the hooded eyes. The visits to his house always left me feeling vaguely uncomfortable, though, as if I were witnessing some complicated, unspoken transaction between the two men, a transaction I couldnt fully understand. The same thing I felt whenever gramps took me downtown to one of his favorite bars, in Honolulus red light district .usually I would sit at the bar, my legs dangling from the high stool, blowing bubbles into my drink and looking at the pornographic art on the wallsthe phosphorescent women on animal skins, the Disney characters in compromising positions .
But while Davis specialized in sex, the young Obamas Smith Street adventures would eventually take a different direction. He writes: even then, as young as I was, I had already begun to sense that most of the people in the bar werent there out of choice, that what my grandfather sought there was the company of people who could help him forget his own troubles, people who believed would not judge him...

Pop
Sitting in his seat, a seat broad and broken
In, sprinkled with ashes,
Pop switches channels, takes another
Shot of Seagrams, neat, and asks
What to do with me, a green young man
Who fails to consider the
Flim and flam of the world, since
Things have been easy for me;
I stare hard at his face, a stare
That deflects off his brow;
I’m sure he’s unaware of his
Dark, watery eyes, that
Glance in different directions,
And his slow, unwelcome twitches,
Fail to pass.
I listen, nod,
Listen, open, till I cling to his pale,
Beige T-shirt, yelling,
Yelling in his ears, that hang
With heavy lobes, but he’s still telling
His joke, so I ask why
He’s so unhappy, to which he replies . . .
But I don’t care anymore, cause
He took too damn long, and from
Under my seat, I pull out the
Mirror I’ve been saving; I’m laughing,
Laughing loud, the blood rushing from his face
To mine, as he grows small,
A spot in my brain, something
That may be squeezed out, like a
Watermelon seed between
Two fingers.
Pop takes another shot, neat,
Points out the same amber
Stain on his shorts that I’ve got on mine and
Makes me smell his smell, coming
From me; he switches channels, recites an old poem
He wrote before his mother died,
Stands, shouts, and asks
For a hug, as I shink, my
Arms barely reaching around
His thick, oily neck, and his broad back; ‘cause
I see my face, framed within
Pop’s black-framed glasses
And know he’s laughing too.

Thanks, frog in a pot.
Pinging BP2 to #8,937.
Just found my birth weight & size on a little blue rolodex style card from the hospital, on the bottom it says compliments of the Pet Milk Company.
“What is the best way to ship them?”
We can exchange them through e-mail. At the count of “go,” we e-mail our packages to one another.
P.S.
That would bypass customs.
Babies conceived in October are born in August. That’s interesting, to get to August 4, you need fairly early October.
You might try the “Pop” poem which Nerks has posted on this thread. It was published under the name Obama while at Occidental.
There is absolutely no sourced account that Barry went to Occidental as Soetoro.
If he was there as a foreign student it was as a Kenyan, not an Indonesian.
Obviously, many pushing the Soetoro/Occidental story are merely confused; but others may be spreading the false meme as a disinformation to confuse researchers. Your confusion is a testament to the disinformationalists’ success.
Hope this helps.
check the batteries in your calculator or try using your fingers...
That makes 10 months....LOL

No, early Nov...
If he was conceived in Oct he would have been born in July at the lastest...
Yhis may have happened...
His 8 pound plus birth weight may have been true if he was born in July or August...
But maybe Mom said he was 8 pounds plus and 3 weeks old to a girl who didnt know babies and thought they all looked alike as a cover up for a 6 pound birth weight and 2 months old baby...
Also “I dont know how to change diapers yet” would be a nice touch...
Thanks H-mama. I was off for a while.

I answered you several hours ago but the post got snarfed apparently due to the site being down as it has been for short periods for the last several days. Then I was off for a while and did not check it.
Ann looks spacey to me in all of the photos I’ve seen of her. The pics of her in her middle years make me think of an unreconstructed flower child.
Maybe in the naughty ones she’s in love! (What drugs did they do in the early 60’s - pot?)
Scroll down until you find discussion of Frank Marshall Davis His book was published under a pseudonym -- Bob Greene, I think. At least it was Greene -- don't remember the first name. He was confronted about authorship of the book and finally admitted that he had written it later in life. So did the publisher (out of San Diego) admit the true authorship.
For instance: When Lolo Soetoro married Stanley Ann Dunham and adopted Barack Obama (or his name might have been Barry Dunham, then Barack Obama), the child was renamed Barry Soetoro and had Indonesian citizenship. The adoption probably happned in Hawaii so that Lolo Soetoro could bring the boy into Indonesia as his legal son and enroll him in school.
In 1980, Stanley Ann entered a pleading with the Hawaii courts which cited Lolo Soetoro as have TWO children he was responsible for providing support, one a minor (Maya) and one over eighteen (Barry Soetoro). Barry gradutaed from High School in 1979 and was in Occidental College in California when Stanley Ann obtained her divorce. The legal name for Barry while in Indonesia was Barry Soetoro. He was sent from Indonesia at age ten to live with Stanley senior and Toot. If they did not change his name legally at that time, he was legally still Barry Soetoro AND obtained scholarship in Hawaii, not as Barry Dunham or even Baack Obama, but as Barry Soetoro! He used the name Barry in High School in fact. When he applied to Occi he was legally Barry Soetoro. After his mother obtained the divorce from Lolo, when did Barry Soeotor legally change his name to Barack Obama, or did he just use whatever name he chose to use?
WHne Barry returned to Hawaii at age ten, he would have entered the U.S. on an Indonesian passport, most likely. It was the same renewed passport he likely traveled under while in college and perhaps even in the 1990's!
What doe sit add up to? ... Barry Soetoro is sitting in the Oval Office, ineligible, supported by fraudulent documents and fraudulent mischaracterizations of his identity. His selective service card is a forgery. His first Internet displayed CoLB on his campaign website and FactCheck.org was a forgery. He lied on his application tot he Illinois Bar Association. etc. What it all adds up to is the Democrat cr4iminal enterprise party has foisted a fraud upon the world, tricked the Amewrican people into allowing their Constitution to be abrogated, and the nation is being run by a block of 'czars' who do not answer to the people. The total adds up to a big fat zero being pawned off on U.S. as the messiah of hope and change.
Human gestation is considered to be 280 days.
I'm no expert on drugs, but I was just out of college in 1960 and my husband was still a student. I was in that environment, but not hanging around with the "experiment with your mind and body" crowd. I just happened to live in Berkeley because my husband was enrolled there. Pot was NOT common. In fact, I'd say Pot was rare in 1960. Nice people didn't do pot. Pot was considered something that Mexican illegals did. Heroin was around, but (again) nice people did not do heroin, or cocaine. That was for bums in NYC.
People, who wanted to get wasted, drank -- lots of beer, hard liquor, etc. Wine wasn't even very popular among the young crowd because people hadn't been educated to drink wine yet. California had a Wine Advisory Board that sponsored wine tastings for charity to educate people on choosing the proper wine to go with their food. But, you never found college students, or young adults, drinking wine. Beer, vodka, scotch, bourbon. Those were the drugs that were common.
But,by 1963, LSD had been created. And people like Timothy Leary were telling young folks that it was a harmless high and fun -- better than liquor. I don't think it was illegal then. And then kids started bringing back pot, cocaine, hash and all kinds of other substances back from their adventures on spring break. Folks started walking out of 2nd story windows because they thought they could fly, etc.(Art Linkletter's daughter)
I remember that my husband had just graduated from Engineering school in June 1963, and we were looking for a house in Berkeley because I was expecting another child. Our flat was getting too small, and the neighborhood was going down hill. I took the babies out for a walk one morning and I found a man passed out in the middle of the street from some drug overdose. My husband said, "That's it. We're out of here. We're not raising our kids here." We made an offer on a house that very weekend on borrowed money.
But it was a shock. I'd never seen ANYBODY "out of it" in Berkeley before. Little did I know that it would get much, much worse, or that house we bought wouldn't have been in Berkeley!
Even if Barry returned to Hawaii at age ten using a fresh Indonesian passport, that passport would expire 5 years later because it was a children's passport, so he couldn't have traveled with it while in College. He had to get an adult Indonesian passport to travel after 16, which may mean he had to re-affirm Indonesian citizenship and get a new passport.
OTQH, he could have somehow scammed for a US passport but, that wouldn't get him into Pakistan. Things still don't add up.
AMEN, you nailed it.
