Really your thoughts align with mine. I don’t usually state “less government needed” as a benefit of education, although I recognize it, because it’s just one of many I see.
IMO-Poverty breeds all crime, inequity, hate, oppression, etc... I believe that wholly. Because the poor are vulnerable in every way. If you give them an education, you arm ... them with a tool to fight vulnerability.
I believe in a capitalism, too, but I recognize it is based on competition. So we must accept that there will be winners and losers. Obviously, it behooves everyone and the idea of ‘competition in a free-market’ if those losers are they best, happiest, most-able-to-compete people that they can be. Imagine.
I really believe the only solution to poverty, of course, is education. We haven’t yet tried everything else yet but it seems that way to me.
Oh, and did I say I am sick of seeing class-warfare turned into ‘race-warfare?’
A Libertarian friend of mine recently said this: “It’s a perfect system, when the gears are greased properly - and if the people are the gears, then surely education is the grease that helps things run smoothly.”
That’s our common ground, anyway.

Regarding those vital records, many of us have commented that the simple fact may just be that what appears on his birth certificate is rather trivial, but could be in COMPLETE discordance with his scripted story, especially in his autobiographies, therefore being the *embarrassment* of LIES about his authentic past.

You are correct. Kenya and other British colonies in East Africa used the East African schilling as the basic currency unit. It superceded the Rupee in 1919:

In other words it looks odd. However, again one must remember that this was a transition period in Kenya. As has been pointed out by many posters previously, one has to make a comparison with other similar documents from the same area and the same time period to come to a definite conclusion.

My point was that had she been O Sr's mother, there would not have been any case where she would have stated that she witnessed Sr's birth. The birth she witnessed would have to be junior.
You need to read up on Luo customs. There are quite a few articles on the net and a Luo musuem with pictures. It may have been quite possible she was a bride at 12. They could have sex with little girls but just not penetrate them. One girl could have multiple guys coming to her hut.They couldn’t penetrate until she was a bride..or some such thing.I just skimmed over it and don’t really remember what I read.

I wonder if Obama owns land back in Kenya that he may have inherited if he was born there, under Islamic Law, when part of the "Coastal Province" was called the "Republic of Kenya" in 1963.
I also wonder if there's a birth announcement in the Mombasa Times circa Aug. 4, 1964.
