That is about the time Stanley Ann got divorced from BHO Sr. She filed in January of '64, but the divorce was not granted until 20 Mar 1964. Perhaps a copy was needed for the divorce proceedings?

It seems there's more to this by looking at Kenyan history in late-1963 to early-1964.

I think this small area of what is now part of "Coast Province" in emerging Kenya where Obama may have been born -- known as the "10-mile coastal strip" -- was calling itself a REPUBLIC before the rest of the country. As the remains of the British Protectorate were being carved up, this area wanted to ensure they would NOT be parceled to Zanzibar. Land disputes still exist there today over this.

This was not to be. Then acting Prime Minister, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, the British government and the Sultan of Zanzibar declined to grant the strip autonomy.

In a letter dated October 5, 1963, Kenyatta bound his government to some undertaking in recognition of the coastal strip.

“I have the honour to refer to the discussions held between our respective governments on the subject of the coastal strip and to place on record the following undertakings by the Government of Kenya,” reads the letter to the prime minister of Zanzibar.

His note further reads: “The free hold titles to land in Coast region that are already registered will at all times be recognised. Steps will be taken to ensure the continuation procedure for the registration of new free hold titles and the rights of free holders will at all times be preserved”.

The letter was used as a legal instrument binding the Government to respect the status quo of land prior to independence.

As revealed by a report prepared by Robertson dated November 23, 1961, some people were advocating for an independent Coastal State before independence: “I recommend that if any system of regional or county administration is set up in Kenya, the Coast Province of Kenya should be one of the counties.”

In 1964, Kenyatta used his office to send signals to the international community that Kenya might renege on some commitments made before independence.

In his note reference “EXT 237/003A of March 25, 1964”, addressed to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Kenyatta informed the United Nations of his Government’s intention to review all pre-independence treaties and agreements and determine which of the pacts would be honoured, abrogated or modified after appropriate notice to interested parties.

Tracing the historical perspective of the land issue, the former CKRC commissioner, writes: “In 1895, the Sultan gave the British power to administer the ten-mile coastal strip subject to their respecting the existing Kadhi’s Courts, among other conditions. The British did so and declared a protectorate over the Coast while the rest of Kenya was a colony proper. The Sultan, however, retained sovereignty over the ten-mile Coastal Strip. During the last years of the independence struggle and at the start of the Lancaster House Constitutional talks in 1961, the status and fate of the coastal strip came up for determination.”

It wasn’t CALLED Republic of Kenya until December 1964. <>It ceased being the Dominion of Kenya in December 1963. It then "officially" became the Republic of Kenya in December of 1964. I suspect the declaration of independence contained language that it was going to be the Republic of Kenya.

Like the United States, we created a "republic" but the Republic was not official until the Constitution was ratified.

So since Obama was born with dual citizenship (U.S., Kenya) wouldn't his birth have to be recorded in Kenya anyway for purposes of establishing his Kenyan citizenship?

If so, then what's presented here doesn't mean anything as best I can tell. Interestingly the location of the birth is Coast General Hospital in Membasa on August 4th, 1961. That may be a "generic" tag if he was born outside of Kenya.

(Again, speculating..I really do not know and I'm only peripherally following what's happening here.....)

Possibly, but this "Certified Copy of Registration of Birth" says Obama was born at the Coast General hospital Mombasa, Kenya.

The question is what would she have been doing in Mombasa in the first place? It’s the other side of Kenya from Obama relatives.

She went to Mombasa to fly back to the U.S. but was prevented by the airlines from boarding her flight due to her advanced pregnancy and, shortly thereafter, gave birth in Mombasa?

I think this is a distraction, period. Personally, I think he is hiding “something”. What it is, I have no clue. As far as this particular “document”, I would be highly suspicious. It would be easy to have this discredited intentionally to add more ridicule to those that believe he was born elsewhere. My belief is that there is something in the Long Form that may lead to something else. Either that, or in his other missing information. If there is nothing in his Long Form, the next demand will be for him to release his other information that he has not provided. THAT may be where the damaged good are. Just one man’s opinion.

In researching the story, he went to the microfilm archives and found the birth announcement for Obama. Actually, he found two of them, one in his Honululu Advertiser on Aug. 13 , 1961, and in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin the next day . They both said the same thing: “Mr. and Mrs. Barack H. Obama, 6085 Kalanianaole Highway, son, Aug. 4.”

But here’s the thing. Newspaper officials he checked with confirmed those notices came from the state Department of Health.

“That’s not the kind of stuff a family member calls in and says, ‘Hey, can you put this in?’” Hoover explained. Take a second and think about that. In order to phony those notices up, it would have required the complicity of the state Health Department and two independent newspapers — on the off chance this unnamed child might want to one day be president of the United States.

This is an easy one. Birth, death and marriage records were routinely picked up by the county/state records at that time. I was born in VA in 1961 and my birth record was in the newspaper with the info on my BC. My parents had nothing to do with it.

All that had to happen in Zero's case was a late filing for an HI BC. I am not saying that it happened this way...but"

Days later it is all taken care of with a sworn statement of home birth or registration of foreign birth by grandma. (we will not know which until we see the BC). The DOH registers him and the newspaper picks it up. The newspaper never said he was born in HI.
