Back Door Gun Control: Obama Backs Inter-American Arms Treaty That Has Ties To United Nations--
The Washington Post ^ | April 16, 2009 | Scott Wilson

Posted on 04/16/2009 5:58:29 PM PDT by NorwegianViking

MEXICO CITY, April 16 -- President Obama announced in a visit here today that he will push the U.S. Senate to ratify an inter-American arms trafficking treaty designed to curb the flow of guns and ammunition to drug cartels and other armed groups in the hemisphere. Obama made the announcement after meeting with Mexican President Felipe Calderón this afternoon. The meeting is the centerpiece of Obama's first visit to Mexico, whose government is engaged in a broad war against heavily armed drug cartels threatening the integrity of the state. "The Obama administration's commitment to seek ratification [of the treaty] is important because stemming the number of illegal firearms which flow into Latin America and the Caribbean is a high priority for the region and addresses a key hemispheric concern relating to people's personal security and well-being,"

I could see the Rats meeting in secret and passing such a bill. But I believe that the saving grace is that they need 60 votes for cloture.

“You cant get guns or Ammo right now.....”

Here in Texas, there has been some interuption in the ammo flow but, there are plenty of guns. (depending on what you want)

The usually monthly guns shows have gone to twice a month. In order to get first dibbs on ammo, be there early (at store opening) on MWF. It sells out fast.

Seems like *blue* states are being hit the hardest. Might be the plan, man.

Everyone who is eligible should buy a gun and learn how to use it.

Ummmm I hate to say it, but having a gun and even knowing how to use it doesn't automatically guarantee the will or even the that it will be used either in defense of self and family or in defense of liberty. There are some folks who simply should not have guns but that is a self determination and never one that should be in the hands of any governing authority.

As far as secession, I think that's treading on very thin ice. It's going to be easier in the long run to get rid of the idiots in control of Congress and the White House than it will be to Balkanize and risk losing it all.

Here's my tip of the month: there is still a great pistol and ammo deal out there waiting for you. If you have waited too long to arm up, or if you want one more, look at the excellent milsurp CZ-52 pistol and 7.62X25 Tokarev ammo.

You can get a CZ-52 for about $200 at any gun show or at many gun stores. The ammo can be had for as low as 11 cents a bullet in any quantity you want. Extra mags are from $12 to $20 each.

The milsurp ammo is full metal jacket, firing an 85gr bullet at 1,600fps. These will go through car doors, kevlar helmets, kevlar vests etc like an icepick through butter. OTOH, they will also go through one bad guy and maybe hit a good guy behind him.

However, you can buy hollowpoints ("Wolf Gold" with brass shells) for about $19/50, or half the price of comparable 9mm JHPs. My test "Wolf Gold" JHP ammo expanded to .60 caliber, the same as my test 9mm JHPs.

So for $400, you could buy a CZ-52, 1,500 rounds of assorted ammo, and a few extra mags. OR, you could buy about 2/3s of a "brand name" pistol, and no ammo.

It's just a thought. This is a great bargain. The ammo is cheap and plentiful at all of the internet catalog sites. Don't wait, the libtards will soon slam the door on foreign gun and ammo imports, and the prices will go way up.

Another benefit of this pistol is that it is very accurate, with very fine sights. WIth this flat-shooting ammo, you can hit at 100 yards with ease. Downsides are brittle firing pins (buy a spare, and don't dry fire) and a decocking function that you should not trust. Just lower the SA hammer like a 1911. The safety works like a 1911, so if you are used to 1911s, it will be very easy to use the CZ-52

Note WaPo changed the article title AND deleted the part they had about the NRA being involved in CIFTA hearings (sic). I remember it, NRA complained about it, and WaPo changed the damn article. Now a lib I converse with on another sitye says NRA is lying, when it is Obama/Clinton/WaPo people do so.

“The Shootist”

That was his last movie IIRC, Ron Howard was in it too as a young man who aspired to becoming another “JB”..but in the end, saw firsthand what it meant to “be” him..

Quiet defiance. Guns? What Guns? I went fishing in a VERY deep part of the Gulf of Mexico and carried my guns to protect me from the obambi unicorns trying to save me. Too many of them landed on the port side and the boat tipped over. ALL those guns went glub, glub. Sorry, nothing to see here. Move on. Quiet defiance.

Hey Travis....you seem to know your gun prices......

I’ve got 1000 rounds of .308 NATO in battle packs but no longer have the gun associated with it.

What’s that worth today? Anybody?

What always strikes me is that people in the MSM and political circles hail someone like Hussien as a “constitutional scholar”.

Yes; and the county extension service agent insists the weasel that keeps visiting my hen house is a poultry scholar teaching a course in animal husbandry. /s

You can’t get that ammo for less than about 60 cents a round, and usually a lot more.

this is reminiscent of the Clinton and the Kyoto accords that were never ratified by congress.

Yeah, but weren't the Republicans in charge of the Congress then? I think our only hope with the UN is the so called Blue Dog Democrats elected from very progun districts. Hopefully they'll stick together and vote as a block and even more hopefully, there won't be enough RINOs willing to backstab us and side with the LIBS to sell this country down that "UN Blue" river.

I have a full safe and enough ammo for a small war...but I always feel more comfortable with enough ammo for a protracted conflict.

I usually buy primers locally and bullets and brass on line.

My local guy is out of primers...and Midwayusa and Grafs are out and NOT taking orders. I can get bullets and brass online...there is plenty.

I dont need guns.....but there are plenty of used guns around if you keep in touch with people in clubs etc.

I hear though ARs are at a premium...which is OK as I am more of a Garand guy anyway...I would like to get a hold of 2-3 AK’s though and an ammo can or 20 for them.

The 52% of brain-dead voters that put this clown in office won’t like your idea. Not one bit. But, to he!! with them.

I did hear the reloading supplies were at a premium here if you could find them at all. (don't reload)

I suspect this could be one of those *back door* attacks. Looking for some sort increased ammo tax next.

That means that Mitch McConnell needs only 34 votes to block ratification.

Here is a direct quote from a newly posted (finally) transcript of Obama’s press conference in Mexico yesterday.Yes, he certainly has overwhelming respect for the 2nd Amendment, all right. Coming soon...

“The last point I would make is that there are going to be some opportunities where I think we can build some strong consensus. I’ll give you one example, and that is the issue of gun tracing. The tracing of bullets and ballistics and gun information that have been used in major crimes — that’s information that we are still not giving to law enforcement, as a consequence of provisions that have been blocked in the United States Congress, and those are the areas where I think that we can make some significant progress early.

That doesn’t mean that we’re steering away from the issue of the assault guns ban, but it does mean that we want to act with urgency, promptly, now. And I think we can make significant progress.”

Here we go again...
