Update from Fox News: 4 people have been killed and several wounded.
I believe the U.S. Geological Survey’s website has a feature which monitors daily seismic events worldwide. It would be interesting to see a similar type of monitoring of daily Muslim bomb events. No doubt their computers would be overwhelmed with incoming data.
Oh geez...I hope the State Department and every institution that does study abroad to Egypt pulls the students out.
My Arabic teacher is in Egypt after getting a scholarship to study intensive Arabic for a year, and she was staying in Cairo. I hope she’s ok....
Wow! I didn’t know about all those bomb threats in America!
I was just going to post this link

Crazy, isn’t it? All kinds of stuff on there. The map is lit up like a Christmas tree.
Thanks for your site too, I’m going to bookmark it.

I was in that market in Dec. Very crowded. It would not have taken much of a bomb to hurt a lot of people.

It is a dangerous time to be traveling internationally — especially under the Obama administration. I wouldn’t feel safe overseas at this time. Heck, I don’t even feel safe in my own country right now.
It is a very interesting graphic. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the ping jersey117.
Our prayers are with the victims and the families.

Word...
First trip in 1984 was fabulous, in spite of the fact that Khadaffi (nextdoor) was threatening to "shoot American airliners out of the sky" at the time. But talked to some ordinary Egyptians and they were worried about what was to happen next in their own country. The Sadat assassination had really shaken them up.
Second trip in 2000, both my husband and I were creeped out by the place. There was some pan-African Conference going on there at the time, and guys were walking around with machine guns everywhere we went. Even pre-9/11, husband and I agreed that it was not a place would return to. It was just flat-out scary, and neither of us are nervous nelly travelers.
But I will never forget something that our Christian guide said on the first trip: "The colors of the Egyptian flag are red, white and black -- the "red" is for the blood that Nasser spilled; the "white" is for the peace that Sadat made; and the "black" is for what is yet to come." Little did we know how true that would turn out to be!
Bttt!
It’s Soetoro’s fault. I can’t wait to say “Hasta la vista Barry”.
