The Winds Of Civil War: Illinois-Driven Marxist Attempt To Conquer Union
Pat Dollard ^ | Feb 20, 2009 | Pat Dollard

Posted on 02/20/2009 8:49:17 AM PST by Islander7

New Hampshire fired the first shot. Although 7 other states have similar pending resolutions and bills, Oklahoma is the first to actually pass one. Another 27 states are expected to make similar moves in the coming months. That’ll leave the country split 71-29.

Now, before you get too excited, bear in mind that all of this was likely Obama’s goal. Boiled down, all of these state measures are threats of secession. Recall, if you will, Obama’s obsession to be the 21st Century Abraham Lincoln, and his ominous calls to recreate and rebuild America. Who was Lincoln? Why, he was the man who “preserved” the Union by way of implementing military force against states that had seceded. Lincoln knew full well that he would not be preserving the Union, but that he would be conquering sovereign nations, and that he would then have to destroy their cultures and ideologies, remaking both in the image of the North’s. And that is precisely what happened in the aftermath of Lincoln’s war of aggression. He didn’t preserve the Union, he changed it forever and handed unprecedented powers to the Federal Government.

Okay, so now I’m going to run with a theory.

Sir, you are incorrect.

Please read "A Convention for Proposing Amendments...as Part of This Constitution" for the details of how it would work.

There is a danger, however about 2/3rds of the states are “Red States”. While they may be unsuccessful in repealing the 16th, enough conservative states are available to control the agenda or prevent rescinding of the 2nd.

The danger may be far worse to not call a constitutional convention in the attempt to reign in the Federal government while it is still possible.

One thing you have to say about Obama is that he is NOT wasting ANY time in bringing about "his" change in America!

Caveat to pingees: I briefly scanned the article so I'm more or less convinced it's topical, so...

Please ~ping~ me to articles relating to the 10th Amendment so I can engage the pinger.

Click the 10th Amendment button for all articles tagged with keyword "statesrights"

I continue to add names to the ping list as I run across others I find participating on similar threads. If you want off the list just say so.

May I suggest adding a link to the 10th amendment center in your ping graphic?

I’m afraid their is an inherent danger in calling a constitutional convention. Representatives would be appointed by current state governors (I believe) who are mostly Dems now. And once a convention is called, it cannot be limited as to topics. They could as easily rescind the 2nd Amendment as force the feds to behave. I’m not sure we want to go there!

I thought about that, very true. It could be the worst mistake we ever made. Risky for sure.

What if our honorable military refuses to slaughter us, or simply, stand with us? Aren’t they our brothers, sisters, sons and daughters?

I don’t believe that “opposing” military units would fight each other, either. Rather, they would crush the thugs who were unleashed upon us.

That is the great thing about FR (Thanks JR), all these minds working together and for others playing the devil's advocate...

You are all Obama's, Pelosi's and others worst nightmare... Next to Rush that is... ;-)

This is the sort of thread that FreeRepublic was uniquely designed for. Not the nutball threads that claim trilobites are clever forgeries to fool us about the Earth’s age.

Obama could never win a civil war as long as the people are armed. What he forgets is that we don’t have to go to war against the federal paramilitary force. We only have to take out their leaders. Kill a few hundred prominent ‘Rats and his dreams of a Marxist United States folds like a house of cards.

Anyone want to borrow my copy of Unintended Consequences?

The problem with this (if I understand it correctly) is that the law is unclear on whether a constitutional convention can be restricted only to the cause(s) declared by the states that called it.

In other words..... 2/3 of the states could call a constitutional convention for the objective of overturning the 16th amendment -- but the liberals could "hijack" that and insert calls to repeal the 2nd Amendment, or to insert a pro-abortion amendment.

Constitutional historians, please let me know if this is correct (i.e., the current understanding) of law regarding constitutional conventions.

Does FR condone allowing a Marxist government to destroy the country?

it was Blackwater who went with the JBT’s.

BW (now Xe) is nothing more than a mercenary force. They'll do what the highest bidder asks. The real issue is that BW (Xe) is comprised of foprmer military and police who previously swore to defend the Constitution.

I stand corrected. Thank you!

Still, I’m not sure I’d be happy with the current ACORN electorate voting for the delegates either. :-)

Take the time to read all the posts in that thread. Some of your fears will be alleviated by the debate spawned by that post.

Congressman Billybob was kind enough to vet the content.

See post #122 for a link to an earlier thread with excellent research into the subject.

I did find one thing dis hearting in that 3/4ths of the States would be needed to ratify. Only 2/3rds needed to call.

Perhaps as things deteriorate and reality sets in more states will go from "blue" to "red"? Didn't someone once say "prudence is the better part of valor" or something...
