The House and Senate still have to reconcile. This isn't done by any means until it hits Zero's desk.
Corker will be defeated in 2012 however.

Collins, Snowe, and Specter all just lost hope of Reelection.
Let's not kid ourselves. Specter, however, is toast.

I think Corker voted for it due to a procedural manuver. You always have one guy who supports the fillibuster to oppose the fillibuster so they can bring it up for a vote again.

If there were Republicans that voted for this bill, and conservatives threaten to vote them out of office, wont there be a greater chance of their seats being filled with democrats? Yes but that's why they need to be defeated in their primaries. Spector almost fell victom to a primary challenge but the Bush admin backed him to the hilt.

CORKER!It's apparent that that stupid MFer doesn't read his e-mails, answer his phone calls, or read his faxes and snail-mail because if he did, he'd know that he's never going to be elected in any office again. What a stupid, f******ing, idiotic, brain-dead, liberal moron.

A voice of reason. That is exactly what they do — Corker was the person for the GOP Senators.

You jumped the gun. This is the vote for cloture, not voting for the bill!!

“This vote was to end DEBATE not for the BILL. The person who put up this thread did not know what he was talking about. The vote on the bill is tomorrow morning. Then the bill goes to conference and comes back to both House and Senate for a final vote on the conference committee.”
SEMANTICS. PROCEDURAL STUFF BE DAMMED, WHO IS GOING TO CHANGE THEIR MIND???? THEY GOT US. THANKS MAINE!!!
By a vote of 61-36, the Senate voted to cut off debate, setting up a likely vote on final passage Tuesday. Democrats needed a 60-vote majority.
If the bill passes Tuesday as expected, lawmakers will then have to reconcile the differences between the Senate and House versions of the package.

This was the vote to for cloture to end discussion. Vote on the bill is tomorrow. Person who started this thread had the wrong information and no matter how much some of us are shouting some people continue to ignore what this vote was all about.

I think you are right. It was a vote to cut off debates. Not that that will change the final tally.

Perhaps you should ask the mods to change the title of your thread to match the actual story: “Key Senate vote advances $827 billion stimulus bill”. This would also be more accurate since they haven’t voted on the bill but only to end debate on the bill.

I’ve heard of that rule before but somehow I wouldn’t be surprised to see that Corker actually supports this.

It is apparent that you did not bother to read this thread or you would know they always pick someone to vote with the other side in case it has to come back up. Corker was that person for the GOP leadership.
This was about CLOTURE ONLY not the stimulus bill which will be voted on tomorrow.
