Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the secretary of homeland security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations.
The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany.
The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that as WND reported gave the president the authority to declare an emergency and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress.

This is not FEMA. It is Homeland Security.
These are the “Secret Haliburton Detention Camps” that libs kept fantasizing that Bush was building, brought to life by thier own fascist Democrat leaders..
And they will remain UTTERLY SILENT about it.
You said — “Thats what I was thinking as well. Technically.”
For all intents and purposes, during a major attack that would shut down a major part of the country and paralyze everyone else — FEMA *would be* the government from that point forward...
That’s just the way it’s been designed and made to operate.
Hi Star Traveler! See my post at #79. Has a link to an article you may find interesting, if you haven’t read it already.
The author discusses camps in relation to a complete financial collapse of USA.

Don't you Feel Safe Now?
Go to your local Emergency Center established on a military base. HR 645, known as the National Emergency Centers Establishment Act sponsored by Rep. Hastings, will create and provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due an emergency or major disaster, to the tune of 180 million the first year.
Take a read for yourself and let me know what you think of this bill! I am not sure I want to place the security and sustenance of my family in the hands of Big Bubby! America has always had natural disasters and Americans, being as resourceful as they are, have always gotten through it. Why would we need the government to set up camps to take care of us now? Why not leave these issues in our hands?
At the end of World War I, America suffered through during the third greatest plague in the history of mankind taking over 21 million lives world wide. It was known as the Spanish Flu of 1918, where about 550,000 Americans died in a 16 week period. We got through it without camps based on military bases!
Do not forget that it was the military service men and women who suffered the worse during this pandemic because they were locked on a military base in such close and contagious quarters!
World War II, FDR set up camps on military bases to provide temporary housing, and medical, to Americans of Japanese descent. Were still screaming about that!
DO NOT TRUST THE GOVERNMENT. If I were you, I would remember how the Katrina disaster was dealt with by FEMA and then prep your own family! You are ultimately responsible for your own life, and not big bubby! Then call your representatives and demand they vote NO on this potentially disastrous bill that can seriously infringe on your Rights and Freedoms.[/quote]

Yes, that would be another kind of “disaster” too — wouldn’t it...
I’ll have to take a look at what he thinks would happen. If it’s a total, literal, financial, and non-functioning governmental collapse of the country, “all bets are off” — at that point in time... LOL...
I would rather see a major terrorist attack than that...
Did it fn’ look like I was serious with the “...”. Do you go around calling everyone mentally deranged?
Yep, but it’s been a *very long time* in the making and it did not come around just in Bush’s time or Clinton’s time...
You said — “Did it fn look like I was serious with the .... Do you go around calling everyone mentally deranged?”
I said that in terms of “re-education camps” ... and if that doesn’t apply to you, simply ignore it and it’s *not* to you. [ a lot of comments that I make are to be applied “as the shoe fits”... so to speak...]
BUT, I do know that it does apply to some posters and “deranged” applies there...
I don’t get your point, what is the law dear subjugate.
Sorry I got a nasty habit of answering post directed to me.
The left has no problem with sex offenders. They will probably be our captors.
LOL..., yes, I know I posted it to you... but I was hoping that all people would read it “as the shoe fits”... :-)
I propose to create this "detention" place right next door to Rep. Hasting's residence...
Wouldnt want to be you! Except I am. Uh oh. And a homeschooling pastor’s wife to boot. We are in trouble!
You asked — “I dont get your point, what is the law dear subjugate.”
Are you asking what are the FEMA powers in the event of a national emergency?
Ummm..., use the word “dictator” for a one-word explanation... I think they run just about everything in the country at that point in time, if it comes about.
If you are asking about all the laws that have been written granting FEMA all these powers, that’s another matter. I would have to take a “leave of absence” to come up with the documentation on that... LOL...
Ambiguous? Nope. That is a blank check issued by an unelected official on our dime, to be used however he/she sees fit.
I do not place much faith in Government, which lately is a ravenous creature, devouring the rights and treasure of the people and our posterity, but this requires a level of trust in that institution I reserve for God himself. Power has a nasty habit of being the instrument by which even the most well-intentioned are corrupted.
I remember back during the Clinton administration, the then president was supposedly plotting to overthrow the Constitution and make himself lifetime dictator. Y2K was going to be the catalyst that would allow him to impose martial law and hence seize power for himself. I personally knew people that bought into this line of thinking. I wonder if they look back at their erstwhile beliefs and feel embarrassed - as they should - or if they’ve moved on to a new conspiracy theory.
