Attn FReepers: The Free Republic Inaugural Ball has been cancelled.
Free Republic | Inaugural Eve, in the year of the Grate ObaMassiah 2009 | Jim Robinson

Edited on 01/19/2009 3:15:30 PM PST by Jim Robinson. [history]

Sadly, the 3rd Quad-Annual Quadrennial Free Republic Inaugural Ball in DC has been cancelled due to lack of interest. There will be no refunds (seeing as how no tickets were sold - and none offered).

However, now is the time to begin planning a conservative offensive movement.

How many of you would like to attend a two day conference symposium, er "FReepmeet" regarding taking back our country? It's been suggested that if we do this, it should be held in a central location or airline hub like Denver or Dallas so a maximum number of FReepers can attend.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Please post your ideas to the thread.

That is all.

I’d go for that...

Sandy Froman might be a possibilty. Graduate of Harvard Law, resident of Tucson, and past president of the NRA...

I'm for it. I'm not convinced Dallas is all that central. St. Louis would be more like it. However, I'd make it to Dallas. A meet, eat and shoot event would be great.

I'm also for putting together groups in each Congressional district. However, that doesn't take a national organization. Each District can organize, regardless of what others do.

As for getting our names on a "list," don't worry. The names are there already.

Let's roll!

I will be unable to attend anything, unless it’s <100 miles from home. Work has me tied up from now ‘til....?

Besides, my hair’s too short, and it just wouldn’t be right to show up at anything not looking like a hippie on Medicare.

Can we consider many more accessible sights across the country and use live video feeds, I can imagine many sports bars, movie houses or public places that can be rented, or just being able to rent big screen projectors and do it in private homes.

Its just a thought to increase our numbers.

I have no problem if it was in Alaska and or if it was telecasted on the web.

Are you up to some traveling? You could gather freepers quarterly in different locations and bring everyone “news”. JAT

Beauties?

OK, if you say so.

I was there a few years ago. I failed to see anything pretty other than some distant hills. :)

2. How can we rescue the GOP from the RINOs that infect it. More than one Freeper (myself included)no longer consider themselves Republicans.

Here here! However, that shouldn't be our #2 topic. It should be #1! We've got to figure out how to undo the damage done by Bush and his cronies ASAP!

Why do we need to physically meet?

Because it is too easy to sit in our comfortable chairs and speculate or debate about the condition of our country. Meeting face to face motivates us to put our feet/hands/minds to work "doing" something about it. Never misunderestimate the power of motivation and commitment. If oboyites can pledge to be servants to oboy, then surely we can pledge to be servants of God and Country.

How about organzing regional meetings and sending a regional delegate chosen by the group to a national meeting.

We can bypass the GOP offices since the GOP is rather hopelessly squirrely.

I believe when Jim says central he means someplace you can fly into on just one flight from basically anywhere in the country. That would make Dallas (AA hub) Denver (UA hub) Atlanta (Delta Hub) Cincinnati (Delta hub) Memphis and Detroit (NWA hub) and of course Chicago the best places. Las Vegas also has many direct flight from a lot of the country. St Louis is a nice pick but since AA ruined TWA is has been de hubbed and there are not nearly as many direct flights to there as there once was. Another option would be Salt Lake City.

I’m not a Republican either. I’m a Conservative. That doesn’t mean I won’t support a conservative Republican though. Oh, and you are gonna miss GB. You think you won’t but just wait.
