When you lose an election like we just did, it brings out the best those family, friends, and acquaintences of yours who don't share your political beliefs.
In 2004, I tried my best not to gloat at all because I understood that for many of our opponents, politics is their religion and to watch Kerry lose, it was like watching a family member die. I get no pleasure in being a jackass and trying to rub salt into people's wounds.
Liberals generally have no such reservations, so I'm sure we've all gotten an earful today.
So let's start a thread for posting some of the dumbest things people have said to us today at the advent of Obamanation. It might be the kind of thing we can look back on in 2010 or 2012 and say, "Oh yeah, I forgot what that little snot said."
Man I’m glad I don’t have “friends” who would forward me steaming piles of horsesh*t like that.
0bama hasn't even been sworn in and she's already lost her ass(es).
My cubicle mate at work...has a lib radio station on...and Obama-this, Obama-that...!b UGHHHH!
The night before the election, my son attended a CAP squadron meeting, and a man (I don’t know who he was) came in to talk to them about the election. My son said later that the man was very evenhanded about the candidates. He asked the cadets their opinions, but carefully avoided endorsing anyone.
My son said one kid started talking about how much he “hated” McCain and supported Obama. FTR, that kid is white. My son isn’t.
I had just lectured him on staying quiet about the election. When I heard about the talk, I wished I hadn’t.
Please move here! We need good people like you to keep Texas Red.
"He's the most radical pro-abortion candidate in history. It's true. It's what he believes," I said.
"It's also what I believe," she said, as though the mere weight of her opinion would shame me for having criticized Obama.
"Well, I pray that you are enlightened by the Truth." I said
"No, I pray that it is you who are enlightened," she said.
The conversation came to an abrupt end because a coworker of hers was arriving and it was obvious to both of us that this was about to spiral into an inappropriate exchange during a business call. It was tense but all business from then on.
I had a 5$ bet with my wife on the election. I lost. While we were out shopping today she hit me up for the money in the check out line. I gave her 3$, and then gave 2$ to the lady standing behind us. I said “I’m only looking out for the people coming up behind us, It’s not fair that you won and she didn’t, so I’m just you know, spreading the wealth around.” The lady looked at me like I was insane and gave me the 2$ back...I kept it. Of course then I had to use it toward the money for the groceries...but it was the principle of the matter.
Towards the end of this campaign, I found out that my BFF of 31 years was a "him" supporter. He switched to Eastern Orthodox Christian from Protestant (as I am), and thinks we Protestants are nuts. His wife of almost 20 years was really upset, and the rest of the family, all Christians, thinks BFF's lost his mind.
I’m in NYC too so its non-stop. The thing I can’t stand is people who go on and on about he brings people together when he is basicaly a garden variety liberal. I guess if you talk about hope and change enough people just want to believe you are different so they do. Then there is this belief among so many that just being “liked” by the word — mainly by doing whatever “the world” wants us to do — will solve all our problems.
Finally, Moore admits his own films are garbage.
My liberal leaning lesbian boss normally puts a quote of the day in the morning on the dry erase board. Want to guess whose quote she used from last nights election to put on the board? That's right. Barack Hussein Obama!!
Another co-worker of mine said that she would have loved if Palin was a Democrat. I asked why. She said because she is a woman and she is for human rights. I asked then why did she not vote for her? She said because she is a Republican.
Notice how I have brought up all instances of people at my job? Well, when you are in the most liberal county in Texas (travis), this is what you get.
Don’t let youself get down. I certainly understand you taking a day off to regroup. Remember that you should be proud like me in that we voted against Socialism along with 56+ other Americans! Those who chose Socialism will learn what they did in time and come to their senses. We now need to be thinking about 2010 and getting rid of more liberals in the Republican Party! :)
Just ask Comrade Lysenko.
When the economy slows and you have need for one less worker, I am sure you know who to terminate.
Sorry, FrankR. Your story sounds like what my sister would do to my mom. That’s just sad.
Good. She can pay my share, too, then.
Here’s a nice passive aggressive way to handle it -
whenever you refer to 0bama’s “change” pronounce it “che nge”,
and you can easily morph “Barack” into “Buttock”
Same stuff we’ve been hearing all along ... hope, change, etc. I’m so sick of it all.
