Windflier commented that the citizenship requirements for senator were probably like that of POTUS. Now, now, now. I never said that. What I said is that, "I'll bet dollars to donuts that there's a clause in the Constitution about that too."
Even without knowing the exact statute, I'd already guessed that the eligibility requirements would probably be different - but that there would probably be something in the Constitution referring to a Senator's eligibility in relation to his citizenship status.
It turns out that there is, although it's not nearly as strict as that for the office of President.

why doesnt he ask for something he has a chance of getting?
I think this has more to do with getting the issue before the nation's eyes at this time. ;)
As we all know the MSM will bury and cushion OB from all issues.
I just heard Obama stumping, "They will throw everything at us..."; you betcha, gotta finally get ALL this stuff out there in the open OVER bambi's lame-stream media buds' pin-heads!! WE GOTTA (and deserve) KNOW. Who is BARACK OBAMA? WHAT IS HE HIDING?
For example:
"Why did Obama refused to release 14 pertinent documents? Why wont he release his medical, Columbia thesis record, Harvard College records, Illinois State Senate record,
Certified Copy of original Birth certificate , Harvard Law Review articles published. Did he write about socialistic ideas? Obama has yet to release information on more than 80% of his contributors." (excerpt from:

Yes, McCain was born on American soil (Panama Canal Zone) to two American citizens. Wrong. He was born in Colon, in the Republic of Panama, in a civilian hospital.

Who has the responsibility for vetting candidates in this way for political office?Prmarily, it's the responsibility of the party organization which nominates its candidate. That's why the DNC is a defendant in Berg's suit.
If the party organization attempts to place a constitutionally ineligible candidate on the ballot in each state, the view of many is that the secretaries of state of the various states (or whatever state official or state agency has authority to conduct elections) have responsibility to correct the error of the party organization. Remember that a presidential election is actually 51 separate elections - one in each state and one in DC.

Problem solved.....crisis avoided.
***One might expect that from someone who loves this country. Unfortunately, your foolishly simple notion is misguided due to that false assumption.

Well, if you worked in the State Dept and were asked by a black U.S. Senator to issuue a passport, do you think you’d be inclined to issue one?...Especially if you were a Democrat and many of your superiors were Democrats?..and more especially if he applied through an office in Chicago/Cook County ?
He could flash an old college exam as a ‘birth certificate’ and probably that would suffice...

It’d be more rewarding to impeach and remove Obama if he wins.

The Constitution says one is not “eligible”, so I do not believe SCOTUS would act on this until he is elected (which I don’t believe is going to happen) if at all.

Wasnt he born on a base to American citizens? Again, no. He was born in a civilian hospital in Colon, Republic of Panama.

Itd be more rewarding to impeach and remove Obama if he wins. According to this attorney, if he is not a citizen and is elected, he becomes a usurper and cannot be impeached. It gets really really messy from there.

No. He was born in Colón, Republic of Panama.
He was NOT born in the Canal Zone.
Later on, he is going to have his own problem.
To: Califreak
P.S.
That is...he will have his own problems should he be voted in as President.
Should he be voted President, we will get Sarah Palin as President sooner than we expected.
I can live with that.
To: Windflier
He's still a US Senator, and I'll bet dollars to donuts there's a clause in the Constitution about that too.No need to bet. All you have to do is read it.
Here it is.
For the record, here's what it says about the required qualifications to be a US Senator (Article I, section 3):
No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.
Nothing at all about having to be a natural born citizen to be eligible.
