OBAMA TRIED TO STALL GIS' IRAQ WITHDRAWAL [election is over?]
New York Post ^ | 09/15/08 | AMIR TAHERI

WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.

According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.

"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.

Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

I love it...just a couple of days ago, an Iraqi asked me where I'm from. When I said "Texas," he said "Like Boosh! You like Boosh?"

Oh, yes," I said.

The Iraqi said "Boosh good. Saddam bad. Obama bad."

“The Logan Act makes it a felony ..”

“Yes, but all he has to do is deny he said it and it turns into a stalemate. This could have legs politically, but I can’t imagine it will get to the point of legal action.”

I doubt this even has legs politically. Like you said, all he has to do is deny it, and it will be ignored by the msm. Or the msm will call the Iraqi`s liars who are making it up to hurt Obama.

Yay, it’s on Drudge! Too bad the financial crisis is dominating the page though — we need the top billing and sirens!! Too much to hope for at this point, but maybe if/when the scandal heats up.

This sounds EXACTLY like what they accuse Reagan of in the Hostage Crisis, to delay their release until after the elections!

Obama decided he was President a year ago. He’s only doing what comes naturally, and of course, nobody will mention treason or stupidity or overweening arrogance. Certainly not the MSM.

Even if this is true, the Iraq govt. may deny it in case The One is elected.

“Do you really think this makes ANY difference to Obama’s fans?”

Well, they shouldn’t be too happy about this either, because in effect, Obama is stalling ANY agreement to bring the troops home in a timely manner.

Of course, that’s making the grand assumption they can reason.

This story if proven true has to get out and a lot of noise created in the public forum over it. The Logan Act must be brought into play. The anointed one should be brought to trial and jailed. But will it happen.
At any rate. I have to get ready to go to work. Do have a great day.

Maliki must have been there, too. C'mon, Maliki, pipe up about this. You know dang well which side your bread is buttered on.

So then that would mean the NY Post is lying and then you have to go after the reporter for the smear! Would the Obama campaign do this?

From page 2

Iraqi leaders are divided over the US election. Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (whose party is a member of the Socialist International) sees Obama as "a man of the Left" - who, once elected, might change his opposition to Iraq's liberation. Indeed, say Talabani's advisers, a President Obama might be tempted to appropriate the victory that America has already won in Iraq by claiming that his intervention transformed failure into success.

Maliki's advisers have persuaded him that Obama will win - but the prime minister worries about the senator's "political debt to the anti-war lobby" - which is determined to transform Iraq into a disaster to prove that toppling Saddam Hussein was "the biggest strategic blunder in US history."

“Amir Taheri is an Iranian-born journalist and author based in Europe. His writings focus on the Middle East affairs and topics related to Islamist terrorism. Taheri’s public speaking engagements are arranged by Benador Associates, a public relations firm with a predominantly neoconservative clientele.”

Controversies

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amir_Taheri

This alone will blow his credibility out of the water as far as the msm is concerned.
