WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

You have an excellent point about Reed and Hagel!! They should be asked about this ASAP.
From the Fox report:
“A top foreign policy adviser to Obama sat in on the meetings between the candidate and Iraqi officials this summer and said no such conversations occurred, the campaign said Monday.
Obama has said he wants U.S. troops out of Iraq as rapidly as possible, and while the U.S. negotiates a Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq, Obama wants that brought to Congress.
According to the report in the Post, Obama said he wants the Bush administration excluded from the negotiations, given its state of weakness and political confusion.
First of all..notice how this ‘top foreign policy advisor to the Obama campaign’ is not named..... Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari is NAMED!! ????? Obama has 300 some odd FP advisors...LOL
Second...notice how Obama thinks it is perfectly OK to BYPASS a sitting President of the USA to ‘negotiate’ on behalf of his own administration that he hasn’t even won...LOL!
MESSAGE TO the 300 Obama Foreign Policy Advisors: These agreements have to be made now with the current PRESIDENT OF THE USA!! GUESS WHAT? That President is G.W. Bush!!..LOL
BUGGER OFF!!...LOL!!
Arrogant statement to say the least.
We knew that Obama's summer trip was bad, but we had no idea he was playing games with our troops for his benefit. So he goes to Berlin, he trashes the country, skipped a visit to wounded soldiers when he was in Berlin, let's not forget this. And now we found out he's playing games with the lives of our troops, maybe even a Logan Act violation, going there and asking the Iraqi guy, as a mere senator, "Hey, can't you delay your political action here?" That trip overseas was a disaster. It was beginning of the end of the bloom coming off the rose. This is not experience, this is not judgment, this is change, but it's breaking a law and his faith with his followers and our troops. Barack Obama asking the Iraqi foreign minister to keep US troops longer than the commanders on the ground think they are needed. Stop and think of that!
Congress is Democrat controlled, and would run out the clock on the Bush administration.
Mark Levin is talking about this NOW.
I think of it often. I have never disliked nor mistrusted a candidate so much in my life. I can’t get over the fact that so many Americans are in the tank for him. It is scary and says a lot about the mind set of some people in this country.
PING!
Rope comes to mind for this seditious POS traitor !
Funny..the only ‘political confusion’ and ‘weakness’ on display.....is Obama and his entire campaign....LOL
btt

We have had the native haters of a free America before this country got its freedom to the present day.
They are in full alert now as they may end up losing big time. So they will say, print, air or do anything to win this November.
Wonder what the fruit cakes over at Code Pink think of their boy now?
yes, I did thanks:

Words fail me. He must have felt so sure of himself, that he would win the election, that the Iraqi government could be blackmailed into doing his bidding because they had no other choice.
“Rope comes to mind for this seditious POS traitor !”
We about 40 years to late.
We should have used the rope on Kerry, Fonda, Ted Kennedy and the other leaders of the so called anti war movement of the 1960’s.
If we had tried them for treason, hanged and left their bodies to swing in the capitol rotunda, America and the world would be a better and safer place.
Now the best we can do, is to defeat this vile pos in Nov and as many rats in congress as we can.
B Hussein Obambi is toast. Translation: I want the war to go badly so I can win convincingly in November!
Not gonna happen, Barry :)

Obama to visit Iraq, Afghanistan Posted: Monday, June 16, 2008 1:41 PM by Domenico Montanaro

From NBC/NJ’s Athena Jones
Obama said today the campaign would be making an announcement as to when, but he said he he wanted to visit both Iraq and Afghanistan before the election in November.
“I told him that I look forward to seeing him in Baghdad,” Obama said of his conversation with Iraqs foreign minister, Hoshyar Zebari. “You know, we’ll make an announcement about that [as to when], but as I said, I’m interested in visiting Iraq and Afghanistan before the election.”

Obama spoke briefly (about 10 minutes) with reporters about his telephone conversation with Zebari. He said he was encouraged by the progress made in reducing the violence in Iraq, but believed troops should be withdrawn, and they should do so carefully.
Obama also told Zebari, he said, that Congress should be involved in any negotiations regarding a Status of Forces agreement with Iraq. He suggested it may be better to wait until the next administration to negotiate such an agreement.
Asked by NBC’s Lee Cowan if a timetable for the status of forces agreement was discussed, Obama said, “Well he, the foreign minister, had presented a letter requesting an extension of the UN resolution until the end of this year. So thats a six-month extension.
“Obviously we can’t have U.S. forces operating on the ground in iraq without some sort of agreemnt, either a further extension of the U.N. resolution or some sort of Status of Forces agreement, some strategic framework agreement. As I said before, my concern is that the Bush administration—in a weakened state politically—ends up trying to rush an agreement that in some ways might be binding to the next administration, whether it was my administration or Sen. McCain’s administration.
“The foreign minister agreed that the next administration should not be bound by an agreement thats currently made, but I think the only way to assure that is to make sure that there is strong bipartisan support, that Congress is involved, that the American people know the outlines of this agreement, and my concern is that if the Bush administration negotiates, as it currently has, and given that we’re entering into the heat of political season that we’re probably better off not trying to complete a hard and fast agreement before the next administration takes office, but I think obviously these conversations have to continue. As I said my No. 1 priority is making sure that we dont have a situation in which us troops on the ground are somehow vulnerable to, are made more vulnerable, because there is a lack of a clear mandate.”
I wonder if we’ll hear about this from the liberal news media?
Well said. Always a sure thing from me ..........voting against the enemies of America, both foreign and domestic !
Stay safe Dave !!
