WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

THANKS DOUG!!!
Only Republicans are fighting a 'declared war'! The Democrats have already surrendered. Congresscritters will help the driveby media snooze this one.
BTTT
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops...Congress? Oh-reilly?
Generals Pershing, MacArthur, Marshal, Eisenhower, Patton, etc, etc, etc, would disagree. They had this quaint idea about WINNING the battle they were in and fighting until they W-O-N. And Barry, there's that little constitution thingy about the POTUS being Commander In Chief of the troops.
Plus our 9% Congress isn't capable of negotiating a Trash Collection contract for a village of 600, let alone US troop movements in a WAR.
(For a professor of the Constitution this guy doesn't know poop about it and if I was a parent of one of his past students I'd sue for a refund.)
Does anyone REMEMBER ABOUT A MONTH AGO, IRAQI LEADERS ANNOUNCED they wanted us to withdraw asap? I wonder if that was before, during or after Obama was in Iraq. Did Obama intimidate the Iraqi’s or something more nefarious when he was over there?
This has been all over the net today. Anyone know if he or his campaign has addressed this yet?
Obama denied it, but the quote he made was so Clintonesque in the first place that he could say that he never pressured to delay any withdrawal; he just “asked” why they were “not prepared” to delay.
Promise them? I think he scared the hell out of them. What does Barry Obama have on the Iraqi’s? IMO, he tried to shake down the Iraqi govt and they didn’t budge. Shortly thereafter, he cancelled his visit w/troops in the hospital in Germany. IMO, he didn’t need them at that point and went to the hotel gym instead. BO’s a meglomaniac. Seriesly. Why do you think Michele is not w/him? MEGLOMANIA. He won’t share the stage w/anybody.
He’s denying it, of course.
I’m stealing that.
Big question: did Obama's remarks in June both in public and to the Iraqi FM help to block/delay SOF negotiations this past summer, which the Bush admin. had sought to conclude before the political conventions and the run-up to the elections? Maybe (it seems that) Obama is ALREADY on record blocking/interfering with highly sensitive and critical negotiations....??
That appears to be the big question right now. Should force the Obama camp to go on defense again, during another news cycle.
Very Lincolnesque.
But instead of U.S. Grant there is David Petraeus.
I have been looking for it in print, like I said, but can not find it yet. Major Garrett said something about Obama ‘denying the report’ on one of his segments on Fox News.
Lots of voters don’t have computers or internet access. I think Barry Obama insulted plenty of them by inference. Apparently, he wants to be president of a “hip, wired America who can paypal donations to him.” He’s more of a money prostitute than the Clintons.
My point is that Obama can deny this, and this article can be accurate, and both can be “truthful” in a loose sense.
Obama can claim he didn’t ask for any delay of withdrawal till after election day.... because if you look at the exact words, he didn’t. He just asked why they weren’t prepared.
However, “I didn’t have sexual relations” nuance is not going to fly with the American public when it comes to national security. If it gets verified, then, yes, it’ll be the end of him.
I guess I’m just saying, don’t be discouraged by any denial from his camp...
Thanks, and a bump for later read .................. FRegards
O’Reilly is more into body language than true conversation. Although she’s not much to look at, I think O’Reilly’s got a thing for the body lady. She’s liberal, probably from the liberal court system of body language experts.
