WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July.
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its "state of weakness and political confusion."

It's getting deeper.
Here is a HuffPo quote:
“Polls suggest most U.S. voters are much more concerned about the economy than the war. The proposed agreement could make Iraq even less of an issue this fall. Steve Elmendorf, a Washington lobbyist and former Democratic leadership aide in Congress, thinks that is unlikely, however.
“I don't think this gets the issue off the table,” he said. “Between now and Election Day, not a lot of troops are going to come home” even if the proposal is enacted.
“Most Americans want this thing to end,” Elmendorf said, and McCain “still talks of continued engagement.” Many Americans, he said, “will vote for who will get us out.”

The Logan Act makes it a felony and provides for a prison sentence of up to three years for any American, without authority of the United States, to communicate with a foreign government in an effort to influence that governments behavior on any disputes or controversies with the United States.
It wasn't a problem for Kerry and won't be for Obama because the MSM will NOT make it an issue

Obama decided he was President a year ago. Hes only doing what comes naturally, ...
I'm not sure about a year ago, but I agree with the idea. Obama has decided he is President. He appears to be playing the psychological game of imagining a concept (being president) to make it happen. The "power of the mind" stuff. Hence, he has O-Force one, "President" title on his seat in that plane, the Obama seal, the speech in Germany (as if he were President)......or .....he's just really narcissistic. :-)

THis makes perfect sense - for Obama, the War, and his position on it were all about political advantage, not fighting terrorism, building a free-Iraq, or enhancing our position in the Mid-East.
This is just the same thing for him - politics.

Indeed, say Talabani's advisers, a President Obama might be tempted to appropriate the victory that America has already won in Iraq by claiming that his intervention transformed failure into success. Ya think?

Unfortunately they will be the only ones to even mention it.
If we could just get a flashing red light on Drudge and a report on Fox it might be enough, but forget ANY mention on the MSM drive-bys.

“Obamas flipflopped so often and still maintained a certain level of support that I can only assume his followers are what so many here have said they arereligious fanatics who believe in the MAN over any of his actions or beliefs.”
I agree with you on that 100%. There’s a core that will never care. But what of the anti-war Hillary supporters, of which I assume there are many. This could be a game-changer.
To: Enchante
The corrupt MSM will never pursue this story. Right now, there should be dozens of investigative reporters trying to get confirmation of the claims of Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.
Who else says so? (Here’s hoping a couple of other Iraqi officials will go on the record with the confirmation.)
If this story is confirmed, it’s all over but the shouting for Mr. Barack Obama, or as the federal prison system should come to know him, 5390310229.

McCain should get in front of this and force Obama to explain the article.
The Rats throw articles out there all the time and try to make Republicans respond to it.
