We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
I keep leaving, but coming back. I really do think it’s not as bad today as it was yesterday, but my opinion may be tainted.
I will say this. I’ve been close to leaving the site a couple of times in the last month or two, and it wasn’t because of the anti-rudy people (some of whom’s POSTS I find harsh, rude, and downright vulgar), but because it was becoming a place where I felt depressed about conservatism after reading it.
FR had been a place for me to get news and hear the optomistic conservative response, to see the cogent arguments to use to stop liberal thought, to watch as conservative principles were developed into answers to the problems that face our country.
But in the last couple of months, everything I hold dear has been under attack under the banner of defeatism, that belief that conservatism is dead, that we have to get over it and move on, that social liberalism is the answer to our rebirth, and that if I don’t see it I’m stupid, ignorant, and responsible for the death of the unborn.
I’m used to putting up with that on some liberal boards I read, but this was my own back yard, at the house of JR, a man whose principles I agreed with, and those invited to sit at the picnic table were stealing my chips and sticking “kick me” signs on my back, and plotting to burn down the oak tree and tear down the fence and invite all their liberal buddies to the party.
I think I went to far with that analogy, but my point is that we conservatives need a place NOT where our ideas are unchallenged, but at least where it is our ideas that are debated, and debated with facts, rather than a place where we will be called names and lefty inuendo and downright lies will be thrown at us by people who insist they are better conservatives than we are.
Understand?
You've already accused me of lying........at least twice.
I don't care to discuss ANYTHING with someone who accuses me of lying.
I'm not any kind of victim, because I'd have to let you victimize me, and I'm not that weak or gullible.
You haven't succeeded in accomplishing your goal, and should you continue down this line, I shall ignore you.
Get it??
Freepmail for you!
The way most of us deal with the depression is to find niches where we can retreat to, so we can come back refreshed. For me, oddly enough, my best retreat is a thread on news about the WOT. But FR is filled with places like that where we can discuss, share, and make connections so we can fight the good fight.
You aren’t the only one feeling depressed. I look at the news and wonder, Lord, what is going on? Are you intentionally blinding people?
But today, I make this promise: I will not go easily into that dark night the enemies of my country both from without and within want me to go.
I have been rereading the history of the founding of this nation and know it’s a dream worth passing on. And I will not give up. I will pass it on!
JimRob’s taking a stand has given me a chance to reignite my hope.
IMO, the hypocrisy of SOME of the Rudy bashers has been glaring. I have my doubts that SOME of them even care about the sanctity of life. They're just using it as a weapon against anyone who dares support Rudy.
There are better ways to deal with political conflicts, and there are DEFINITELY better ways to deal with moral conflicts.
Sometimes, though, we have to be like ducks and let the water roll off our backs, and look at their intentions, not their technique.
That is a hard one. We all care so much.
I'll drink to that! ;^)
LOL. Get out much?
You remind me of the classic story about how a liberal college professor reacted to Reagan's landslide victory in 1980:
"But I don't understand how he could have won...nobody I know voted for him!" LOL.
You know, you keep referring to a mob mentality around here. The way I see it, the group with the mob mentality has just had some of it's members purged.
I've been around long enough to see that the motives of SOME 'purists' are not all that pure.
Again, you make the mistake of thinking that FR is in any way representative of the Republican party. It isn't.
And if you think that Rudy is causing "deep division" in our party, it's only because he is the front runner. If Duncan Hunter were polling anywhere above 1%, believe me, he'd have people running for the hills.
Give’em the benefit of the doubt for a week, and then start to see how they go. Feelings are high right now, the pot has been well stirred even before JimRob’s statement, and people are reacting very strongly. We’re like a can of Coke someone shook up.
It's pretty much been tit for tat from my perspective in terms of nastiness. But on this thread, there's no comparison. There's only one mob here. The other has been silenced.
Cicero refused to join Julius Caesar’s government because he believed Caesar’s dictatorship betrayed the Roman republic.
Hi ohioWfan.
We’ve had a conversation before and I don’t find you to be an unreasonable person, but you have to realize what is going on here.
People are tired of being told who they MUST vote for, and are fighting back, because we don’t want another ‘liberal’ in the Whitehouse.
There comes a time when you must decide if you want to have conservative values returned to this nation, as the founders had originally started with, Or do you just want to be ‘in control’ no matter the cost to those ideals and values?
Would returning to conservative values mean possibly sacrificing the Whitehouse and maybe more?
Possibly, but there has to come a time when people must decide what is right over what is expedient.
Yes, we could throw our support behind a ‘not so pure’ Republican. But at what cost?
I understand that you don’t support Rudy, but voting for him to keep ‘Hillary’ out is to throw away any chance of returning to conservative values. Maybe for a very long time, If not forever.
Does this mean that we, like the Jews, will ‘wander in the wilderness’ for a time?
Yes. It may. But to give up your ideals for a temporary win would be allowing the opposition to control your life and would be no win at all.
I,for one, am not willing to do that.
And, if you are a true conservative, you should not be willing to do that either.
If we lose, and I’m not convinced we will, the road back may be long and hard and the loss to the country will be tragic.
But it’s a risk that must be taken to bring this country back to where it should have been to begin with.
It will not be easy and possibly even scary, but it must be done if we want to preserve this great nation.
I only hope I am still alive when it happens.
That has yet to be seen, but many are not optimistic.
I don't care who you are, that's funny right there.
And those include the sanctity of life, first and foremost, but they also include honesty, decency (which does not include vulgarity) and morality.
I have already explained ad nauseum that I do not support Rudy, BUT, if Hillary takes office one of the first things she will do is to make sure that American tax dollars kill more babies. Her record is clear, and it is unfathomable for me, as a conservative, to help her get back into the White House.
I value life, this great country and conservatism too much to assist in her achieving her goal.
Too bad you feel that way. I don't consider those that hold the same values and morals as the owner of this site as exspousing a "mob mentality". Seems "bass ackwards" to me.
