Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

No, that is not what I am saying. I am saying that the timing of this blitz is suspect.

It started before the freepathon ended, and shortly after it got rolling a major donation came in to end it.

I did see several rudy people suggest a major purge was coming right after the freepathon ended. At the time, I thought they were paranoid.

However, having watched a half-dozen of them basically walk in and say "Jim, please ban me", I think they weren't being paranoid, they were just telling me the plan ahead of time. That's just speculation, of course, but I'm hard-pressed to otherwise explain smart people calling Jim names and calling him a baby-killer, or saying to him "go ahead and ban me if you dare", or some such thing.

I'm speculating some more here, maybe during this freepathon, which was going slowly, several people he respects wrote him and told him they had trouble giving money any more because the site wasn't living up to its core principles. I know that people get focused more on that kind of thing when they are forking out bucks. So maybe it WAS somewhat based on the freepathon, but in the opposite way than you might think.

You posted my words with your OWN interpretation and called me a liar.

End of discussion.

Also, realise many of the rudy supporters were setting up camp at another web site, were recruiting people to join them over at that site, and had a plan to disrupt this site. I doubt they were giving money here at the same time.

Actually, that makes sense, Charles. And thanks for not belittling me.

Have faith! This crisis too will pass.

There are a huge number of good people still here. You for instance. And me!

"THE LIBERALS HATED HIM. THE LIBERALS. Do you understand..he cleaned up the most corrupt and violent city. THE LIBERALS HATED HIM.

Is that why the Liberal Party in New York actually endorsed him, and Rudy actually ran as a Liberal Party candidate? LOL!

“mob mentality driving away good...conservatives”

Is this the mob mentalilty you’re thinking of:

Central Scrutiniser (note it’s “ser” not “zer”) was not banned, that was a mistake on an earlier version of my list.

Apparently someone has the name with an “ser” but has never posted under that name.

I have faith. But right now there's not much reason to have it in FR.

I agree that you n me are good people, though. :)

Actually, after some hysteria by people who wanted to argue about the core purpose of the site, this thread has mostly been a productive airing of ideas.

Yes, there have been some really nasty exchanges between small groups and sets of individuals here, but they had the power to stop their vitriol at any time by simply stepping out.

And there has been, in my minority opinion, a little too much glee over supposed conservatives going crazy and attacking other conservatives — I’d much rather have been able to talk some sense back into them rather than sending them off to fend for themselves.

But this is hardly a meltdown. We haven’t been reduced to nothing but name-calling. And in fact, throught the land of freeperdom, things are much more pleasant than they have been for a while, even with some rudy posters still posting. It’s been more civil, and good conservatives aren’t getting trashed nearly as much.

If this causes both sides to be more civil, that will be a great thing for the site. If this causes people to think twice before launching unsubstantiated attacks on conservatives, this will be seen as a good thing.

If this “purge” means that we can have spirited discussions once again about politics without the vitriol, we’ll be the better for it.

You obviously missed the fact that I don't support Rudy.

But thanks for your testimonial anyway..............I think.

(btw, none of that had anything to do with the mob mentality I'm referring to).

A little too much glee is putting it mildly.

I just watched the Crucible. Unfortunately, there are parallels.

And on that point, I'm leaving this thread. Life is good, and I've wasted too much time here.

Do you not read well? I mentioned several posts back that I realized that you were not a Rudy supporter. But you continue to subtely attack FR and this thread which the owner initiated. You’re attempt to be a victim again is just another untruthful comment.

We cannot accept it.

We have to work against it.

Lines have to be drawn in the sand.

JimRob lanced a boil.

Some people got caught up in the spray, and reacted badly, even though they weren’t particularly the target.

Some people got sprayed on, even though it was just overspray, and not aimed at them, but they behaved like it.

Some people ran and impaled themselves on the needle like they wanted it.

But the truth is, JimRob has drawn a needed line in the sand.

How far do we compromise? There is a point where you realize that those that want to undercut you have moved you so far off the base that was your foundation that you are no longer standing on anything more than a party name.

Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.

The "Mob"?

It isn't the "Mob" driving them away. JR is the one taking out the trash. The "mob" has no say in the matter.

How's it going to be Jim? How many standards for posting are their going to be on Free Republic? Are these new rules going to apply to everyone or does Spiff and his ilk get a special pass to flame and lay obvious bait?

But you never answered ANY of my questions,

Why is that?? You can’t be that afraid of a conservative, can you?

To: EveningStar

“I’m done. I’m sticking to my own threads and hoping this will blow over.”

So you are asked to explain yourself, and the best you can say is “I’m done”.

Is your ‘embarrassment’ because you are considering supporting ‘liberal’ Rudy, and your ‘shame’ for even considering it.

If you intend to be ‘silent’ then my assumption would be ‘yes’.

If not, then maybe further explanation will clear the air.

But if your ‘embarrassment’ and ‘shame’ is because I REFUSE to compromise my principals and vote for ‘liberal’ Rudy, then you are waisting your time.

Neither you or ANYONE on this site will convince me that the road back to true ‘conservatism’ is through a person who is only ‘slightly left’ of Hillary Clinton.

So which is it?
