The purpose of this thread will be to pool our resources and ideas to counter the attempted take-over of our nations capital and foreign policy.
It is not the place to voice your disgust with those that feel it is necessary to present a street presence to counter the dregs of society seeking to undermine and destroy our country and our leadership. If that is your purpose, please move along.
On January 27, 2007, Thunder90 posted a thread to advise us of the next convergence on our nations capital by the anti-American hate-mongers. This gives us SEVEN WEEKS to organize and strategerize.
While reading Thuder90s thread and the AAR from the DC Chapters counter demonstration last Saturday, January 27th, you will find inquiries in regard to transportation, hotels, metro lines and the like. There were also a number of Freepmails discussing these issues.
For those interested in making our presence known in Washington, DC on March 17, 2007 please feel free to offer what you can.
· If you are driving and have room for others, let us know the general vicinity you will begin the trip. I have an offer now of someone willing to pay for half the gas to share a ride.
· We already have offers of rooms/beds for those that need a place to stay. We can always use more!
· Perhaps you can rally enough interest in your area that renting a van or chartering a bus would be worthwhile. Let us know and we will see if that can be arranged.
· Those that live in the greater DC area or will have a vehicle at your disposal may be able to help shuttle folks from hotels or metro stations.
· We may need wheel chairs and those to push them.
· Those that have blogs, talk shows, columns or access to others that do please share!
Any specifics should be discussed via FReepmail!

There are no formal plans at this time. Why plan a big rally/counterdemonstration if no one plans to attend?
Rest assured the DC Chapter faithful, with assistance from local citizens and troops, will be in DC on March 17th between 11:00 AM and however long it takes to ensure our presence is known.
The question is WILL YOU BE THERE?

How about you start the new thread using your new pic as the headliner? ;*)
Errrr because I forgot how to make a thread?
They weren't needed. Some Signal Corps guys told us they were at Fort Myer.
The Army surrounded the Pentagon with a line of MPs (503rd), backed up by Federal Marshals to make arrests. A line is easily breeched by a concentrated force so they had inside the Pentagon a company of Combat Engineers to handle the anticipated rush on the doors of the Pentagon. The rush came and the engineers (Company A, 91st Engineers) countered when they crashed through the doors. We were an overwhelming force and pretty much cleared the steps of everyone.
The 91st Engineer Battalion, then of Fort Belvoir, had responsibility for riot control in the D.C. area.
I hope that you were over enthusiatic in carrying out your orders.
It wasn't like that. I was one of the first out the doors and the first challenge was running into the backs of the MPs and Marshals. For the force of the guys behind us we couldn't stop and had to move those guys aside to proceed down the steps. After that, I was much propelled down the steps by the rest of the company, my port-arms rifle pressed into the back of another guy.
The attacking group routed, we ran into the bulk of seated protesters and some of us, yours truly included, nearly did headers into the crowd for the guys still pushing behind. After that was a period of receiving many taunts and some missiles.
After the above, things settled in and we got along rather well with the protesters before us. To the consternation of some on both sides, there was a good amount of banter between the groups. They were mostly young people with little more than a superficial commitment to other than their hormones. After some hours some had claimed us as 'their' soldiers. Of course, they were stoned.
More info on the US Marshal's website.
RAT's - I thought perhaps you had passed on an opportunity to butstroke that wife beating, self-inflated ego Norman Mailer
AFAIK, he got himself arrested before the big event. As he fancied himself a boxer so he must have thought himself a running back as he reportedly zigged past some MPs to be arrested by some Marshals. Not much the soldiers could do as they/we hadn't the power to arrest.
Hey. Can you (or do you know someone who could) tell me if this would be a good hotel?
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/area/map.html?propertyID=829
Do you know a place near Walter Reed or Arlington where 20 to 40 Marine Veterans can meet and eat?
We are trying to coordinate our plans the night before over dinner.
I urge you to call your congressmen and senators and MAKE SURE they know about us.
to check out whether a hotel is in a good area, I use "www.tripadvisor.com" and I look for the "forum" for the city. Local experts are willing to answer questions and folks also post reviews/experiences of their stay at different hotels. The "washington d.c." forum helped me a lot when I checked it.
Several issues to keep in mind: you'll probably want to be close to a metro station if possible, or get a hotel that will shuttle you to a station, as driving/parking will not be easy that day. Second, check on the cost of parking at your hotel; some tack on an extra $10 to $20 per day!!
Thought y'all would enjoy this suggested cadence for use at the sites AWAY from the Memorial. It beats "swim to cuba" in my personal opinion :-) This was posted on www.usvetdsp.com/eagle
"I dont know but I've been told
Hanoi Jane is getting old.
Look there at that wrinkled bag
man she is a nasty hag.
I remember back in the day
she made love to a tripple A
We know she's a trator
That's why we hate her!
Sound off!
One Two!
Sound OFF!
Three Four!
Sound off!
One Two Three Four! LETS GO!!!"
Forgot to include you in posting #657 about a suggested "audio salute" to Hanoi Jane when she walks across the bridge and/or at the Pentagon.
Thanks for the info. I'm pretty much down to 2 hotels to choose from, and one is a block from a metro station. The other is a little further, but a shuttle runs from the hotel.
Our other big decision is driving 11 hours with the kids (11, 7 and 5) or leaving them with grandparents? The 11 yr old won't have it, the 7 year old would slaughter us if we went to any war memorials and didn't take him, and the 5 yr old wouldn't want to be left behind. We've tried to explain to them how quick our trip will be, but oh well. The cause is just and so some inconvenience on their (and our) part is nothing compared to what our soldiers went through in previous wars, and are going through right now.
I know I am getting excited!
Thanks again.
"If anyone's coming from SC and can give me a ride then I'll be there. All the airlines realized that March is spring break month so a plane ticket is out of the question. I might be able to take a train if no one can give me a ride."
You wanted information, here goes.
Can you respond to this guy/gal and help out?
We need as many folks as we can get to D.C. I am trying to get my friend from Georgia to join us, and I didn't realize it would be hard to get a plane flight. She'll use that for an excuse not to be there.
Plan B: You can bring her. But beware, she's a Karate expert (kidding).
Shucks, she might have to fly to Knoxville and I'll drive her from there.
