RESOURCE LINK for March 17th: Counter ANSWER's march from the Wall to the Pentagon
Me | January 31, 2007 | Just A Nobody

Posted on 01/31/2007 2:42:16 PM PST by Just A Nobody

The purpose of this thread will be to pool our resources and ideas to counter the attempted take-over of our nation’s capital and foreign policy.

It is not the place to voice your disgust with those that feel it is necessary to present a street presence to counter the dregs of society seeking to undermine and destroy our country and our leadership. If that is your purpose, please move along.

On January 27, 2007, Thunder90 posted a thread to advise us of the next convergence on our nations capital by the anti-American hate-mongers. This gives us SEVEN WEEKS to organize and strategerize.

While reading Thuder90’s thread and the AAR from the DC Chapter’s counter demonstration last Saturday, January 27th, you will find inquiries in regard to transportation, hotels, metro lines and the like. There were also a number of Freepmails discussing these issues.

For those interested in making our presence known in Washington, DC on March 17, 2007 please feel free to offer what you can.

· If you are driving and have room for others, let us know the general vicinity you will begin the trip. I have an offer now of someone willing to pay for half the gas to share a ride.

· We already have offers of rooms/beds for those that need a place to stay. We can always use more!

· Perhaps you can rally enough interest in your area that renting a van or chartering a bus would be worthwhile. Let us know and we will see if that can be arranged.

· Those that live in the greater DC area or will have a vehicle at your disposal may be able to help shuttle folks from hotels or metro stations.

· We may need wheel chairs and those to push them.

· Those that have blogs, talk shows, columns or access to others that do – please share!

Any specifics should be discussed via FReepmail!

There are no formal plans at this time. Why plan a big rally/counterdemonstration if no one plans to attend?

Rest assured the DC Chapter faithful, with assistance from local citizens and troops, will be in DC on March 17th between 11:00 AM and however long it takes to ensure our presence is known.

The question is – WILL YOU BE THERE?

The Raddison in Crystal City is not bad. I usually stay there.

Once again, we are leaving from Cincinnati, OH the morning of 16 March. We have accomodations for probably 4 adults on the night of the 15TH.

How do we coordinate this? Where do we meet? Where are we staying for the night?

Thank you, I'll check into it. My cousin goes to George Washington so I'm going to try to meet up with him for dinner Friday night if at all possible.

*** UPDATE 2-8-07 ***
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

PLANNING TO ATTEND ===== 40

HIGHLIGHTS:

At Valin’s request Donations can be made here to the DC Chapter of FreeRepublic to help with expenses we may incur for this event.

Post #116 by ViperAsh50:
Feb. 05, 07
Kristinn Taylor the President of the DC Chapter of Free Republic kristinn@bellatlantic.net will be getting a permit for a counter protest on March 17th, 07 in Washington DC...They will set up along the route of the Anti-War Protestors, and we from the "Gathering of Eagles" will be under their permit umbrella. When we are satisfied the Wall is secure and the Park Police have everything under control we can march to where the counter protest will take place to show our support of our troops in the field.

I have also talked to Jeff White, PA, State Council, Vietnam Veterans of America, who has sent out 1500 e-mails. And he has also notified the Gold Star Mothers, and Modern Day Veterans those who have served after 1990.

This morning I also talked to Artie Muller - National Executive Director - of Rolling Thunder, he wants all the information on the "Gathering of Eagles". He has not committed yet, but we can hope.

UPDATE From the desk of ViperAsh50:
We want to send a different message than the "anti-war/anti-America" surrender crowd, so we should be clearly set apart from them.

Please hold off on the red armband, which is the symbol of international socialism. Ted Sampley is designing a US Flag-type elasticized armband that will be made available. (Yay Ted!)

SUGGESTIONS:

For those that will arrive Friday, please consider joining us at Walter Reed Army Medical Center at 7:00. The DC Chapter has held a support the troops rally at the gates of Walter Reed every Friday since March 30, 2005. Come join the fun as we honor our heroes! You may have the opportunity to meet a few of these outstanding men and women, as they frequently come out to say hello!

Post the related threads on your state boards to generate interest in attending.

Make up a pdf flyer and email it to every conservative blog, website, veterans organization and Republican Party club you can find.
*** See usmcobra’s moving flyer at post #146!!!
*** Freema’s post #167 would make a beautiful flyer and/or poster.
*** Another great flyer idea by usmcobra.

If any of you are going to CPAC, please mention this to the convention. It could help us with recruiting people to come to the counter protest, and the attendees could spread the word back home.

Contact local VFW, American Legion and Veterans groups.
(We have someone working with the American Legion on a national level.)

Contact Rolling Thunder - (see post 55)
(VFTT will be working with Rolling Thunder on the national level.)

Contact Patriot Guard Riders - Regional and State Captains here and the National Leadership Team here!

Contact the College Republicans, Leadership Institute, GOP Orgs, Conservative Orgs.
(Anyone having contact info for these groups…please provide it here)

Please contact RightMarch.com, Grassfire.org, Moveamericaforward.com, Young Conservatives of Texas, and other organizations.
(post contact info so others can help)

I created a "RESOURCE LINK" ping list from those commenting on Thunder90’s thread "Counter ANSWER march on the Pentagon on March 17th" and the usual suspects from the greater DC area.

The purpose of this thread will be to pool our resources and ideas to counter the attempted take-over of our nation’s capital and foreign policy.

In the words of an OIF Veteran January 27th:

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR AMERICA TODAY?

If you wish to be added to or removed from this ping list please FReepmail me.

I don't think I can come. That's my spring break week and I have to go back to the orthopedist then. I might have to start physical therapy. :(

Yeah, go ahead and remove it. I'd hate for someone to plan on taking me if I don't know I can go. But it's less than three months until graduation...then I'll be back. :)

Where are you from? There may be an antiwar protest near you that you and a few other freepers forced to stay close to home can go to. Check your local "Peace" group and see if they are doing anything on that Saturday or Sunday.

Maybe you'll get a few more folks signing up after they see what Code Pink did to the Lone Sailor statue at the Navy Memorial on January 27th...

What will they do at The Wall on March 17th, if nobody is there to tell them, "Hell No!"

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

The Lone Sailor

The "Silent Sentinel" - standing watch over the Granite Sea at the Navy Memorial in Washington DC...

As part of the casting process, the bronze for The Lone Sailor was mixed with artifacts from eight U. S. Navy ships, provided by the curator for the Navy in the Naval Historical Center at the Washington Navy Yard. The ships span the Navy's history, yielding small pieces of copper sheeting, spikes, hammock hooks and other fragments from the post-revolutionary frigates Constitution (``Old Ironsides'') and Constellation; the steamer Hartford, flagship of Admiral David G. Farragut in the Civil War era; the battleship USS Maine; the iron-hulled steamer/sailing ship USS Ranger; the World War II-era cruiser USS Biloxi and aircraft carrier USS Hancock, and the nuclear-powered submarine USS Seawolf. One last addition was a personal decoration from today's Navy, one given to sailors in war and peace, the National Defense Service Medal. These bits of metal are now part of the Lone Sailor.

Thanks for the motivating pics, Takoma.

Oh, there will be plenty of vets there!!! Pathetic they not only fight the wars overseas, but have to fight them here at home while the armchair generals complain about everything. Don't forget...everyone supports the troops!

The DC Chapter only has two leadership positions:

Ringleader and War Lord
