Prosecutor: Undercover cop begged for his life

NEW YORK (AP) -- An undercover detective, after seeing his partner executed, begged for mercy before being killed himself in a weapons-buying sting gone awry, a prosecutor said Monday in closing arguments at the alleged gunman's death penalty trial.

"Pleading for his life, begging to live, knowing he would never see his family again, knowing that this was the end -- that, ladies and gentlemen, is how James Nemorin spent his last moments on this earth," prosecutor Morris Fodeman told jurors in federal court in Brooklyn.

Ronell Wilson, 24, is charged with killing detectives Nemorin, 36, and Rodney Andrews, 34, in Staten Island in March 2003. They were shot in the head and dumped on a street by a "ruthless murderer," Fodeman said.

"Why would he execute two men in cold blood?" he said. "Because he could. ... Because he wanted to impress his criminal friends."............

No, I didn't get it backwards at all. Bloomburg has been sending his undercover cops down here to Northern Virginia to do roughly the same thing, and they play BOTH roles, acting sometimes as potential sellers and sometimes as potential buyers.

I'm just surprised the shooter wasn't also an undercover cop.

You see, I am agreeing (to a small degree) with the folks on the thread who think this undercover stuff can sometimes be recklessly dangerous ~ this is one such time.

A weapons buying sting. The Founders are rolling in their graves.

NYC harshly infringes on the RKBA- you will get no arguement from me there. However, you have to see this story for what it is. The ANIMAL who killed these two cops is a total SAVAGE. The savage was not interested in hunting, target shooting, or self defense. The savage on trial was involved in an operation that was selling guns to drug dealers and other people (possibly felons) who probably would not hesitate to shoot a police officer also. These two cops left loved ones way too young.

If I am ever stopped by a cop when I am on my way to the range, I make it known to him in a polite manner that I have a gun in the trunk unloaded and in a case and that I am on my way to such and such a range- most cops appreciate the heads up and honesty.

The only thing I see the founders rolling in their graves about in this story is the fact that two young police officers with families were murdered in cold blood by a f*cking hoodlem. Again, NYC infringes on the RKBA big time- and Bloomberg is also an as$hole. You have to see this for what it is- take the blinders off. This savage probably has a rap shet 3 feet long, did not graduate 5th grade, and has probably never held down a legit job. He is a POS!!!

These good men were put into a dangerous and unnecessary situation

Ohh right, so getting guns out of the hands of drug dealers and gangs is unnecessary? Heres an idea you idiot, how about you move into the projects in brownsville Brooklyn or Bed-Stuy Brooklyn and live there for 6 months. Get back to me after your time there and let me know how 'unnecessary' it is to try to control the animalistic behavior of some people. The guy that shot these 2 cops is a PIECE OF SH*T!!

PM me if you are interested in moving to NYC projects for 6 months of living in a drug infested gang controlled hell hole. I live a few hours north of there and would be glad to be of any assistance to you. Oh, and don't try to call me anti-gun or a liberal- because I have about 20 guns in my safe. I am a hunter and I am getting into collecting guns.

Bloombergs/NYPD's jurisdiction ends at NYC- they have no business going to Va and harassing you down there. The feds are investigating him.. so hopefully he will be doing time soon. The feds are pissed at him because his clandestine type operations in PA/VA/GA have screwed up several federal investigations that were active before he jumped into the picture. He will get his. That being said- two cops being shot is a tragedy. RIP officers.

Public servants no longer interested in serving the people and seduced by consolidation of power seek personal gain through the threat of force and deceive the weak minded/irresponsible with the empty theat of security they can't deliver.

HAHA. Ya right, most public servants take those jobs for the great pensions and benefits.... not to bully people around. Ask most cops/firemen why they took that job and they will tell you, "When I am 45 years old I will be collecting a fat pension and working towards a second career".

What good are guns locked up in a safe? Well, it's good for the criminal busting down your door.

I have a 12 gauge readily available if it's needed. You don't need to coach me on how to protect my family.

but absolute freedom and liberty and absolute safety and security are mutually exclusive.

If forced to choose I would choose freedom and liberty.

IMHO the no-knock warrant is one of the most un-American LE tactics that is allowed by the courts. People are supposed to be secure in their homes, and that means security from invasion by LE as well as by criminals.

In metro Atlanta recently a completely innocent 93 year old lady living in a crime ridden area of town was shot and killed by cops executing a no-knock warrant obtained on the basis of a bad tip from an informant who is himself a criminal. She was only doing what I or almost any one of us would have done in that same situation, i.e., defending herself with a gun from what she believed was a home invasion by armed criminals, something which happens frequently in that neighborhood. If we can't defend ourselves and our families in our own homes for fear of shooting at the "good guys" and then being killed by the people who are supposed to be protecting us we're in more trouble than most people realize.

A lot of you will say that no-knock warrants are necessary because if the suspected drug dealers are warned they will flush the drugs and get away with their crime. I would ask you which is the worse outcome, allowing a drug dealer to escape prosecution now and then, or killing an innocent American now and then for defending himself or herself in his/her own home? What will you do if several black-clad ninja types break down your door and storm into your home with drawn guns at 2 A.M. some morning, defend your home with your gun or take the chance that they're actually just cops executing a no-knock warrant obtained on the basis of a bad tip? If you guess wrong either way you're probably a dead man a few seconds afterward.

That being said, execute this murderous thug. Anyone who initiates force against another like this doesn't deserve to continue being an oxygen thief.

Damn straight.

Controlling behavior is a far different business than disarming law-abiding, honest people.

We can carry our pistols and long guns in public without a permit around here (Fairfax County, Virginia), and this area is about as urban as Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Newark, etc.

Our murder and violence rates are far lower than those of any New York borough.

It has something to do with controlling behavior and devoting police resources to that task.

We agree about the nature of the murderer. There is only disgust for him on my side.
Creating crime and opportunities to commit crime in order to prevent crime is a bad policy, as illustrated by this situation.
I've lived in the hood, been shot at and seen whore, ganstas slinging dope and all that crap. If you want to trade your liberties for a false sense of security, I'm to have to tell you the only idiot in this conversation is the one you see in the mirror.

The people in your area have had the sense not to become suckers and trade liberty for security while abdicating personal responsibility.

Selling drugs in order to curb drug use, selling or buying black market guns in order to curb black market gun sales is logically twisted first, counter productive, tempting and dangerous.
