Rush reports that a Cessna has been reported as crashing into (at least one) apartment complex in NYC Mannhattan's upper east side - on East 71st Street.
Helicopters beat the air into submission!
Like, what? A Sopwith Camel??
Lemme guess: one of the two known fatalities is a beagle in WWI fighter pilot garb.
No trans-fats, though.
I bet he was a very nice man. I know he had his demons, but seemed to be genuine. I was born listening to his music and I havn't felt the same about an entertainer until Josh Groban came into the picture. Another genuinely nice and talented person. Steve Irwin also fits that bill as well in my book. Really sad that 2 out of the 3 are now deceased at very young age.
Oh sure - I've been popping back and forth between FoxNews and ABC (All My Children). They just now - 2 minutes before the end - pop in w/ a "Special Report". LOL
ABC says there are marks down the side of the building and that there is airplane debris on the ground. Hmmm - Fox didn't saoy that.
Now that would be an EXCELLENT idea.
It ticks me off how the FBI immediately says that "it's not terrorism".
Remember the kid who flew a small plane into a building in Florida a few years ago? He was an Islamic sympathizer they later found out.
What's your clearance Clarence.
What do you expect to happen at 6 p.m.?
A FRiend just called me to say take your radiation pill. Um . . . what radiation pill? I forgot to say thank you.
:( I miss that sound SOOOOOOO much!
There are 2 dead burnt bodies on the ground along with the debris.
Helicopters are nasty birds. I remember the crash that killed news reporter Jane Dornacker in the '80s, as they were broadcasting a traffic report.
"That's a very highly restricted piece of airspace there and an unidentified aircraft would receive a LOT of attention, as would one that appeared to be off course or not following ATC orders."
CBS out here was just saying that you can fly VFR up the river to the southern tip of Roosevelt Island ... about 90th ... and aircraft in the exclusion zone don't have to contact ATC.
Just said it was a sightseeing plane out of Teeterboro in NJ.
Mark.
anyone started a nonlive thread?

There will probably be at least a half a dozen by nightfall. :-)
Only the black ones.
WCBS: Plane left Teterboro airport (in nearby NJ) earlier this afternoon. Possibly a sightseeing plane.
And I think there was a mid-air between a Constellation and a DC-8 or 707 over Staten Island sometime around 1960.
Something about this doesn't make sense, though. The reported weather (at JFK) was a 1500-foot overcast ceiling with 8 miles visibility. Yeah, 8-mile visibility is fine for VFR flying, but why do you go flying VFR with a 1500-foot overcast ceiling, especially in a "twin-engine aircraft?" Any pilots got an idea?
