Jacob rips Cannon, Bush (proposes a Disneyland type of fast pass for immigration)
Deseret Morning News ^ | 6/20/06 | Ted Walch

Posted on 06/20/2006 4:06:53 AM PDT by Dane

Jacob admitted that he has not ironed out details of his proposed immigration FastPass, styled after the pass used at Disneyland. Park visitors can go to a ride, obtain a FastPass, and then return during a specific time and go to the front of the line. Cannon pressed him on which illegal aliens would qualify for a FastPass. Jacob said it would not be for everyone, only those who had been in America for 10 to 20 years. If they've actually been here that long, show us the five Social Security numbers you've used, get an affidavit from your wife and children, you get a FastPass." "It sounds like what some supporting you call an amnesty," said Cannon, who pushed for additional details. "I don't know," Jacob said. "I still have to work that out." "Everybody in Utah wants to know where you stand on this issue," Cannon said. Patterson said the next week will be an interesting study in intraparty campaigning. "By criticizing the president, Mr. Jacob effectively opens the door for Rep. Cannon to say, agree with him or disagree with him, 'I stand by the president.' That's a fairly effective appeal in (a primary), but the core critics on this issue aren't going to be deterred by that."

Dane, what is your particular objection to the Disneyland pass? Is that it would be ineffective or subject to fraud? Is it that Jacob proposed it?

My main objection is that the tnacredo/bay buchanan absolutists here all become Jacobots when he proposes his own form of amnesty.

Seems like you all don't like the taste of your owm medicine that you dish out willy nilly to people who do not think as you do, that good conservative Chris Cannon is akin to the anti-christ.

So, you don't have a problem with the pass, rather you object to freepers who do not renounce Jacob when he proposes something akin to amnesty.

Shouldn't we be equally irritated at Dane, who does not immediately embrace Jacob for proposing an amnesty scheme? You've embraced everybody else with an amnesty scheme, from Pence to Kennedy.

Neither anti-amnesty Freepers nor FROBL's like Dane are going to reconsider Jacob based on any proposals Jacob makes. Because the race is solely a referendum on Cannon, and his immigration record.

Do you agree?

Because the race is solely a referendum on Cannon, and his immigration record.

You don't replace something with nothing.

To say that Jacob can propose anything he wants or that his own amnesty plan is not going to be factored in or highlighted by voters is wishful thinking, it seems to me.

Because the race is solely a referendum on Cannon, and his immigration record.

And the hypocrisy is boundless when you defend someone who is proposing his own amnesty(Jacob).

Nope this race is all about spite from paleocons such as bay buchanan and tom tancredo, who could care less that Chris Cannon is a good conservative with a 97 ACU rating.

With ego driven "friends" like tancredo/bay buchanan who needs enemies.

Jacob has been slippery up until now, even though he made anti-illegals noises. Well, now we find out that his position is only marginally different from Cannon's.

So why turn out a great conservative like Cannon when, on the one issue on which he is weak, his opponent is barely different?

Jacob is the challenger. He's the one who has to prove his value.

Speaking of hypocrisy, could Dane care less that Tom Tancredo has a 100 ACU rating ?

Tell us Dane, and tell us true: If Tancredo had a Republican primary challenger, who opposed Tancredo on immigration, would you support Tancredo, citing his 100% ACU rating?

I didn't think so.

So, why do you chide us for opposing Cannon, whose position on immigration is 180 degrees from Tancredo? For both you and me, the immigration postion trumps both ACU ratings and experience. If a ham sandwich opposed Tancredo in the Republican primary, you would support the ham sandwich. I don't know if Jacob is a ham sandwich or not, but were he one with no mayo on rye, I'd support him over Cannon.

Tancredo--now there's a guy permanently opposed to illegal immigration. You seem to be for it, but hate Tancredo for inexplicable reasons. Most Freepers are opposed to illegals. Where are you?

I didn't think so

And I don't think that Chris Cannon or any other House Republican would set up a PAC with bay buchanan to try to oust good conservatives for pure ego driven spite as tancredo did.

I can't wait till next week when Cannon wins and the tancredo/bay buchanan PAC wipes the grime off their face after another candidate they pushed backfires in their face.

BTW, Chris Cannon has a 100% rating from the ACU for 2005.

BTW, how come the tancred/bay buchanan PAC didn't target a real RINO like Chris Shays?

The only think Dane cares about is the downfall of the USA so he can assuge his Liberal conscience.

He is the Mods' pet cockroach so they let him spew his anti-American, pro-illegal crap.

He is just a little to the left of Nancy Pelosi. And on par with intelligence.

Your post is basically this: "I worship Tancredo and I will do whatever he tells me." It isn't about challengers to Tancredo. You're changing the subject. The fact is that Jacob is a dud and Tancredo is an opportunistic creep.

Because Tancredo/Buchanan can raise money easier in Utah than in Connecticut.

My point is that it isn't about Jacob. It is about the primary being a referendum on immigration. I will give you that Jacob may be a dud, if you will give me that if Jacob were proclaimed by angels as the embodiment of Republican perfection, and you learned Cannon was actually Damion, you would still support Cannon.

Fact is, if Jacob is elected, he'll vote overwhelmingly with the conservative caucus in the House, just as Cannon has done on most things except the border. His district and constituency make that a certainty.

Chris Cannon made a conscious choice to make himself the poster boy for open borders. It's time for him to pay the piper for that.

As I demonstrated in a previous post, Cannon consistantly scores lower in conservative ratings than Rep. Tom Tancredo. You ignore Tancredo's HIGH ratings yet you tout Cannon's comparatively lackluster ratings. You are a hypocrit.
