Please Pray for My Mother
self | Bigg Red

Posted on 05/18/2006 1:55:46 PM PDT by Bigg Red

My mother Marie will be 94 next month, and she has been a faithful Catholic all of her life. She fell and fractured her hip, and, as I post this, she is currently in the hospital awaiting the surgeon's decision on whether he will operate tonight or tomorrow.

Fortunately, her heart and lungs are in good shape, so she is a good candidate for surgery, but she has senile dementia. The source of concern for our family, based on what her primary care physician has said, is that she may not go through rehab well enough to go back home. As I am sure everyone knows, often elderly people go downhill fast after this sort of injury.

Please pray for this dear lady. She raised 9 children, and she has 28 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

That's wonderful! Our prayer warriors are the best, but we must give God the Glory. My favorite hymn: To God is the Glory, for the things that He has done!

Happy Birthday to your intrepid Mom!

She can do stairs! Oh, that's wonderful. More prayers up, and thanks for letting us know.

I know, it's incredible in someone her age. It was slow going and it was only 5 stairs, but still...

Although she has some osteoporosis, her bones must be in pretty darn good shape, as her fall resulted in a fracture rather than a break. She has always been a hard worker and pretty sturdy. I hope I've got her tough genes!

God has been so good to us!

Good news, indeed.

My own birthday is on June 22 (1951).

My mother underwent spinal surgery today. While the operation was successful, she was very sick when I visited her this evening. However, she should be out of the hospital in a day or two, and we expect to celebrate her 82nd birthday on July 1.

My dear Mother has responded well to physical therapy -- yesterday, she began doing stairs -- and she will most likely be released on June 21.
She will be home just in time to celebrate her 94th birthday on June 22!

Great news!

Adding praise and thanksgiving to God for this great news, Bigg Red!

"Physical therapy...doing stairs...94th birthday". Stairs yet!!! You've got a remarkable mom, but I don't have to tell you that!

Give her a birthday hug from her FRiends on the 22nd and wish her the very best for many years to come. :-)
