Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

..interesting that you refer to God

BTW please do not post italics as if it were a quote from me--you know that's the custom here...

Was there any mention in the article on testing in Montana about whether that was their first testing or if there had been a prior one, whether there was any improvement?

It also worth to note that all but four of the Founding Fathers whose hand went into the Founding Documents were either theologians, religious scholars, devout Christians or ministers.

One of them saw to it that an American Edition of the Holy Bible be printed from the Congressional Printing Press, and a copy of the original American Edition of the Holy Bible resides in the halls of Congress to this very day.

There also is, located next to the main entrance to the Senate, a small chapel where Congress members and their staff can enter to meditate, pray, and hold Bible study during their free time.

The chapel is not open to the public, but it's clearly distinguishable by it's stainglass window of of a portrait of George Washington genuflecting in prayer.

That was the first time that I am aware of that NCLB had been put into use here in Montana. I believe they grade the schools performance in the spring after the schools have completed their year.

..the whole point of tension is the vision as to what kind of society this was, is and will be.

There has never been a theocracy, there never should be in this present world.

On the other hand the attempt to deny that this is a Judeo- Christian based society is simply denying history.

A secular or even atheistic society is a threat--to itself...

And atheists fear the establishment of a religious test for laws that govern their lives.

I am an atheist and I actually advocate a Judaic culture.

The Bible says Israel is God's kingdom on the earth, that the nations around it are kingdoms of the Enemy and that Yeshua will return to destroy those enemies...

You don't think that people can use reason rather than blind luck or chance to conjure up a set of tribal lays that lead to a better life for most?

Of course you can, but The Universe/Father Nature is going to mark your work,.

And take reason too far and you end up muttering "Helping is Futile" with Atlas Shrugged under your arm - not a pretty sight.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence.

Then quite frankly, FR moderators and management could do a lot better job in removing those advocating violence and preaching bigotry from its rolls. And they are out there.

I look at it this way: we don't let leftist opinions of conservatives dictate how we act. But step outside the box and think of what a political newcomer would think, perusing this board and seeing posts calling out for illegals to be shot on sight, Mecca to be blown up, etc.

Frankly, like many other things, I don't think things will change unless FR management gets hit in its pocketbook via diminishing donations. Same ol' same ol'.

Sorry for the delay, I went outside to work in my garden before a forecast of rain.

I do agree with you. My grandmother was not a religious person, yet she had a heart of gold, so I saw in her an unspoken Godliness that makes me believe that ones deeds speak louder than ones words.

New Orleans exposed the goodness and the evil of individuals and the complete failure of a governmental system. Life may well turn out just like that for most of us, a test for how prepared we are individually.

San Francisco is as you describe, other than the instruction for praying that the Heavenly Father's will be done little else I can do. I believe that there is individual sin or goodness, as well as a national sin or goodness, and each are dealt with at times separately or collectively.

There has never been a theocracy, there never should be in this present world.

I'd welcome it at this point. Doesn't seem that "liberty" (read: license) has gotten us very far.

On the other hand the attempt to deny that this is a Judeo- Christian based society is simply denying history.

Some Judeo-Christian society: Abortion on demand, contraception on demand, pornography just-about-on-demand, gay marriage and "rights" on the march, the elderly and ill being snuffed out as "useless eaters", embryos used and discarded in research. Seems more like an Eastern Bloc Soviet satellite.

WHOA Where did that come from?? I never called anyone stupid in my life, nor did I acuse you of hating. I don't think I even implied that.

Did you or did you not write (in your first post to me):

The fix won't be easy now, or cheap, but we need to be helping these people, not hating them for where they were born.

I take that to mean you believe I hate Mexican illegals. That's absolutely untrue. You imply the same thing here, and engage in name-calling:

And what gives you the right to offer your disapproval of anyone's country of origin? My husband may have been born in Mexico, but he is at least as loyal and patriotic to this country as you are, and far less paranoid, omg.

Please show me where I even suggested disapproval of his country of origin. I asked if he's an American citizen. Is he? And don't start with the ingenuous 'paranoia' crap. My complaint is about illegal entry, not country of origin. I get along wonderfully with my legal neighbors of Mexican origin. I'm just as opposed to illegal Chinese, Irish, Armenians or Italians as I am to people from Mexico or elsewhere to the south. Illegal, illegal, illegal, illegal!!! That's the key word. But you're hopeless anyhow because your tagline says it all.

I'm tired of all the demagoguing of this issue. The lines are drawn.

I'm stuck by the core Christianity the American founders showed on their public profession of Christianity. In Britain itself even today public expressions of religion are confined to a particular sect of Christianity (Presbyterianism for Scotland and Anglicanism for England, for instance). British people will feel uncomfortable if they see public ceremonies are interwoven with Baptist teachings, for instance.

In Britain and even New Zealand you feel it is like "Anglicanism above Christianity" while the opposite is true for the United States.

Karl Marx proposed a theory that societies will evolve from capitalism to socialism to communism - the ultimate Utopian goal.

Marxist are people who work toward that end.

Capitalism bad, communism good. Though most aren't brave enough to say so.

Marxist these days don't want to be called Marxist just like many liberals don't like being called liberal. That doesn't change what they are.

Now why don't you have a shot at telling us what you think Marxism is since you say it isn't what I said it was.

Mo1 It’s sad when posters can’t think and respond in the original context of a post.

I didn't take your post out of context .. you said it was the ONLY important issue

I simply disagreed with you
