Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

I disagree with the premise that Newt acted on his lonesome and that he didn't seize upon what Perot had seen in his view of the body public.

I never said Newt acted on his lonesome either. He was, the author of the CWA, those who stood with him on Capitol Hill were in essence, co-sponsors.

Interesting map. I should add, 1992 was the first time Montana went Democrat for president since JFK.

The obsession you folks have with third parties is
to divide the Republicans for a liberal victory and or
a diversion for unresolved personal issues that can't be faced.

Jim, thanks very much for posting this. I'm the father of two immigrant sons, and the immigrant bashing bothers me, a lot.

I jumped to the last posts and can't tell if your message is getting through or not. But, if I had to put my money where my mouth is, I'd say we're going to lose Congress this fall and it will be a very long time before we get it back.

I remember, when Clinton first hit the scene I hated him! I knew he was a liar! The "I smoked pot but i didn't inhale" oh boy! I was 17 almost 18 at the time still in HS and I was known to smoke a little dope... I knew he couldn't be trusted if he was going to lie about something as dumb as that!

He and Condi and many others agreed with the L.O.S.T. I think condi's support of it helped win her over at her hearings. IIRC, she even mentioned it, sorta like a secret code maybe. I could see no other reason for the subject to be brought up there.

In her recent confirmation hearing for secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice was asked by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Dick Lugar if the administration favors ratification of the Law of the Sea Treaty. The president, Miss Rice said, "would certainly like to see it pass as soon as possible ... and we very much want to see it go into force."

Back into your schizophrenic mode. Got room for one more?

..a couple of observations, Jim

The Republican Party and an observably growing presence here on FR is looking at the Religious Right as problem or an obstacle. I really hope the tone changes back to the way it was a few years ago.

Secondly, I hope the GOP doesn't make the same mistake as the Whigs--there are principles where there is no compromise.

FR is a Conservative website--which includes the Religious Right, without whom the rest aren't going to win anything...

You can't admit that Newt(and the republicans) appealed to Perot's supporters to win over Congress.

The only reason I so adamant on this point is that in this coming election and in 08, appealing to those discontented with what is going on right now in the government will make or break the leadership of congress.

We must offer New Ideas that appeal to the hopes of those discontented, silly as it seems Perot and Newt both understood that.

Clinton reminded me all those rich liberal kids I knew in college who would go then overseas, dabble in Marxism or whatever they needed to become "relevant". But were actually superficial and empty, and just really wanting to attract women. I knew better than to vote for him.

Of course I can, however, I wouldn't vote for him if he ran for president in 2008.
